Looking back over the Minor championships who would you say is the most distinguished player in minor football ?

Taking into consideration winning medals or making to minor finals.

Have a few players in mind but would like a general consensus.

For the week that's in it - you can see where this is going.

Heshs Umpire

Brian "Beano" McDonald. 3 Leinster minor medals 1996 to 1998. 3 All-Ireland finals 1996 to 1998, winning the first 2 out of the 3.
Well I could keep it above
But then it wouldn't be sky anymore

It's hard not to too, but looking back there's been a few who are worth a mention too.
Pity some didn't bring it through to Senior

Does he have the most or can you think of anyone with more ?
Some of the recent Kerry panel stay on the minor panel long enough to collect more ?

None of the kerry minor winning teams 2014-18 had 3 year minors. Various players across the teams with 2 AI medals.

Adding in dual.  Cormac Costello and Eric Lowndes won Leinster minor football & hurling 2011 &12 . Both won football AI minor in 2012 and runner in football in 2011 and runner up in minor hurling finals in.2011&12. Between football and hurling they played 5 minors finals(2012 hurling final went to replay) in the 2 years.

QuoteI had half forgotten this . In Clifford's 12 minor appearances, over 2016 and 2017, he scored 10-68, of which 10-50 came from play.

I read that in twitter yesterday. 4-4 in an AI final - not many better than that.

The best minor display I ever saw was a boy from Greenlough playing with Derry one year - I think it was the year Paddy Bradley was minor. I've never seen fielding like it. It was Garrett somebody? I think O'Neill.

Truth hurts

Colm McAlarney and Benny Coulter both played minor and senior footballer in the same day for Down such was their talents.

Dermot McNicholl. Played minor for 5 years.

He played in five consecutive MacRory Cup finals (1980–1984), winning four of them. He was captain for the last two. (Only one of two men to do that, Greg Blaney's father, Sean, was the other one) He was only in third year when playing on his first MacRory team. In 1980 and 1984 he was runner-up in the Hogan Cup to Carmelite College, Moate and St. Jarlath's College, Tuam respectively.

He won 3 Ulster Minor Football Championships ('80, '81, '83), played in the All-Ireland final each of the three times - winning in '83, as captain.

He won Ulster U-21 in '83, but lost the AI U21 after a replay.

As an aside, though he wasn't still a minor (bad birthday), he won an all star (still youngest ever), played senior inter county and represented Ireland in the International Rules, while still at school.
