GAA Discussion / Re: Sigerson 2019
« on: February 21, 2019, 07:40:53 AM »
I was surprised last night at the lack of intensity and pace of the game for large periods. I would say Sigerson is below club football and just above under 21 standard. Billy Morgan said his team doesnít train thatís probably why the game was so poor. Before anyone jumps down my throat both teams has obviously a stand out player boththe number 11s. For example a Kilcoo in Down would destroy St Maryís

Down need to try get another midfielder to play alongside Mooney and Donnelly is probably the right man for that role. He has been played fullback but he is probably our best midfielder this past few years. Performance should get better as last night was not great. Harrison clearly a mile off the pace and give away 3 or 4 balls needs to get himself in shape. One season wonder comes to mind as he has done nothing before or after that year where he had 2 great matches against Monaghan

Moy appoint Shane Mulholland and Stephen Poacher as new managers for the 2019 season. Any other Down men managing outside of Down? Wobbler you kept that one quiet

I see joe jumping on the st Endas Belfast bandwagon this time. Joe always makes out about a brilliant story and that he was there to witness it and somehow twisting it that he has always been following theses teams . Donegal Dublin Crossmaglen Slaughtneill to make a few. He was glowing again about Crossmaglen before this years ulster semi final and not a word about them after it. He also dropped Donegal like a tonne of bricks a few months after they won the all Ireland and mayo hammered them. How does he always make it about himself

No Iím not changing my tune. Itís a realistic prospect with Mooney Harrison O Hare McKernan Maginn Johnstone McArdle O Hagens likely to miss large parts of the league. It would not be a prospect at all
If all the above playing.

Division 4 is a really strong possibility Iím afraid to say. Why would it not be? It has happened derry Laois and Westmeath in recent times and we would not be much better than those. Jerome had a brilliant first half. Devlin Poland McAleenan Mcconville and Flanagan has no impact of the game at all.

If you think that Down team is getting promoted you have another thing coming. Decent club footballers but some of them at the minute are not county standard and thatís the bottom line. If we are beat next week we are in trouble with Westmeath coming to newry the week after. Hard to fathom the big turnaround in players to last year. To much I believe.

Poor second half. Laois had a great bench Down looked to be struggling. Donal O Hare looks sharp.

No Iím being a realist. No negativity at all just saying as I feel. Itís not the strongest of teams.

If Laois have anything about them they will win. I stand corrected but unbelievably only 1 player in the Down starting team donnnelly started against Cavan in last years championship match.

Has any team in the history of a pre season tournament got as carried away as them? McGeeney talking about super 8s. Soupy Campbell says the level of players that they now have is scary. McGeeney also saying they are just a level below Dublin Tyrone and Mayo. Now I know they have good players but is this not gettting slightly carried away?
