GAA Discussion / Re: Limerick vs Offaly
July 11, 2011, 12:55:32 PM
a great win for Limerick, With Ian Ryan having a super game. I think Offaly only scored 7 points from play compared to Limericks 3-11. That statistic is actually quite baffling given the amount of ball Offaly had. Limericks tactic was simple. keep what little possession they had, work it up to midfield and then get it in long to Ian Ryan and Ger Collins who were destroying the Offaly full back line. I thought Stephen Kelly had a huge game for us. He would be an asset for any half forward line. Works hard, Fast and is as strong as a horse. its just a pity we are so decimated by Injuries, id fancy us to get to a quarter final if we had everyone available. Missing Lucey, O Riordan and Ryan due to hurling Commitments and John Galvin and Jim Donovan due to injury, as well as Eoin joy. We are down to the bare bones in the middle of the field in particular. Still with the hurlers winning as well a great day for Limerick

Limerick (SFC v Kerry) - Brian Scanlon, Stephen Lavin, Shane Gallagher, Mark O Riordan, Pa Ranahan, Johnny McCarthy, Barry Fitzpatrick, Tom Lee, Jim Donovan, Seanie Buckley, James Kelly, Stephen Kelly, Ger Collins, John Cooke, Ian Ryan.

Good as we could have expected really. Hopefully ian Ryan and Ger Collins are on form. Difficult to see us troubling them too much though but you would have said the same about london with Mayo last weekend so youd never know.

Difficult to see a Limerick squad Absolutely ravaged by injury pulling this off.  Stephen Lucey the latest to be ruled out along with John Galvin and host more struggling with injury including Stephen Kelly and Mark O Riordan. When you consider that John Galvin and Stephen Lucey were the 2 most inportant players against Kerry last year there loss is huge. Id fancy us to rattle them with everyone fit and well but i now think Kerry will score goals against our depleted full back line. Kerry 3-14 Limerick 1-12

John Galvin has been ruled out for the season with a cruciate Knee ligament injury. Absolutely devestating and it could be the last we see of a truely brilliant Midfielder.

Gutted doesnt even come close.

Great Win for Limerick in Drogheda yesterday. All the more impressive when you consider we were missing The great John Galvin, Stephen Lavin, Jim O Donovan and Stephen Lucey who are 4 key players. Division 3 is unbelievably tight. We could still get promoted but also still be relegated!

Keep up the good form lads

Limerick have a strong team out for Sunday, So hopefully they can dig out a victory. Tipp and Waterford away are both winnable games and it would set us up nicely with 4 of the remaining 5 games at home.
