Dumore the winners of the Galway intermediate title. low scoring game 0-8 to 1-3. They were a good senior team in the 60s winning county titles in 1961, 1963, 1966, 1968 and 1969.
Roscommon SFC final. A first county title for Strokestown for 20 years. Game marred by a knee injury to county footballer Cian McKeon
Strokestown 0-11 Boyle 0-10
Galway SFC semi finals. The defending champions out. John O'Mahony is still working magic with Galway footballers by leading Salthill to the final
Salthill-Knocknacarra: 1-12 Annaghdown 0-9
Moycullen 3-9 Mountbellew/Moylough 0-9
My Club won the Sligo Intermediate Championship after losing the last 2 finals, last year by a 1pt.
We hammered Easkey 3-18 to 9 pts. We played great stuff from start to finish. It was a pleasure to be home for it. We would be one of those teams that should not be intermediate level given our size and talent pool. We have contested 4 Minor A Finals winning 2 in the last 6 years so that's beginning to come through now. We had 6 players on the u20 Connacht winning squad 2 starters and 1 sub with 3 on the extended. We have 1 county senior starter Luke Towey. Alan Mcloughlin would easily start for Sligo seniors too if he went in. He scored 1-2 in U21 Connacht final for Sligo in the AET Galway win in 2017. Most of our players have intercounty experience but we are very young. Our squad is for the most part injury free. I like the balance of our team and we are clicking. We won't be far away at senior in Sligo next year.
St Farnans last year's winners only lost by a point AET to eventual winners St Faithleachs so hopefully a sign Sligo clubs will be competitive.
I watched the Galway Intermediate final. Atrocious conditions led to a poor game. The conditioning of both teams was good. Some pacey young players. Dunmore seems to have a similar experience to ourselves in struggling in getting out of Intermediate and making hard work of it last few years. The keeper under the high ball looks like a weak link. Galway venue is a big advantage. Also the gap from our final to this is pretty long so not sure if we can keep the momentum. We will definetly have the celebrations out of our system anyway lol.
I am hoping the game will be streamed?
Ballyhaunis won the Mayo Intermediate county title this afternoon 0-13 to 0-10 against
Kilmeena who won the the All Ireland Junior title in February.
Ros Junior Final, St.Ronans v Pearses B ended level after extra time.
Said to be the most exciting game of football seen for many a year.
Replay next week.
Inter Final tomorrow Dominics v Éire Óg.

They will be in direct opposition in the Connacht championship in 2 weeks time!
Huge opportunity missed for Salthill as Moycullen never got going, some very questionable decisions didn't go their way in the 2nd half and in particular the ref should have played an advantage prior to that last free he awarded. Lavelle though should never have come to challenge Cooke for the goal.
Salthill threw it away really, will have massive regrets.

Moycullen 1-11 to 1-4 in front at half time. Very impressive half from the Galway champions. The way Dessie Conneely is performing leaves one wondering was he was so under used in the championship by Galway this year?
Moycullen very strong
Isn't that a new surface in mccale Park?? Look at the state of those goalmouths!!!

One of the goal mouths was in bad order alright.
Moycullen laid down a marker there this afternoon. It's a while since a Mayo champion got a beating like that on their home patch. FT 3-18 to 1-12.

A couple of outsider players on the Moycullen team. Niall Walsh who kicked 4 pts is a former Cavan Minor and u21 player. He moved a few years ago. Gallagher is a former Antrim player. He was involved with the Galway panel this year
Poor oul Strokestown will hardly be able to keep it kicked out to them :-\

And Tom Clarke (Mayo)
Westport well beat, no surprise really after a 1st ever county title 2 weeks ago followed by Kevin Keane's stag last weekend. Moycullen a fine side.
What did the Moycullen 6 do to get sent off? TG4 was too busy with the cameras on Lee Keegan so you couldn't see but you could see the Westport fella who was beside it was none too happy.
Moycullen look like a very good side and the AI series is going to be very competitive this year if the weekends matches are anything to go by. Any of the provinces could provide this years winner based on what I've seen to date. What is the story with their jerseys though, they look like something from the early 2000's. Are they retro jerseys or are funds just tight around Moycullen?
To win the senior title
Moycullen (Galway) 1/5
Strokestown (Roscommon) 15/2
Tourlestrane (Sligo) 8/1
St Mary's (Leitrim) 22/1
To win the Intermediate title
St Dominics (Roscommon) evens
Ballyhaunis (Mayo) 15/8
Dunmore (Galway) 3/1
Aughnasheelin (Leitrim) 22/1

Not remotely a like for like comparison. Cavan seniors won the Anglo Celt recently. Sligo senior hurlers wouldn't get within 50 points of Galway.

Their footballers are doing about as well as they should be, lost the intermediate final to a stronger team who really ought to have been in senior by now. Been intermediate contenders the last couple of years and might do it next year given the team coming down from senior are in decline. Pretty sure that the hurlers draw from a neighbouring club also.
It's long established in Connacht like it is in Ulster that the county champions in the weaker hurling counties compete in the intermediate or junior grades. One Sligo team picked off a few titles back aroun a decade ago but it's been a while since they won one. The Galway junior reps are never particularly good for that county's general standard anyway.

Yeah Galway junior reps not great most of the time.
Wouldn't be too au fait with the hurling club scene but I think there is a huge number of teams between senior and intermediate above them which possibly explains why junior winners arent great.

Their underage is a shambles because of hurling. It's actually a propaganda war, fellas being hyped up playing county underage hurling games against average club teams in galway. Watch what happens Easkey football in the next 5/6 yrs
3 Galway Clubs in Connacht Club Football Finals batin their Mayowestros counterparts to get there.
Leroy said to be retiring and Mullin off to Oz.
Good times over for the Rhubarbs?

I'd say Páirc Seán will be like a bog tomorrow which won't help Doms.
Moved to Cloone!

You'd wonder how the county ground isn't playable but a club ground pitch 20 minutes away is?
Carrick and surrounds was always a semi swamp.
Maigh Chuileann- Strokestown 7 each at fulltime, extra time to come.

2-8 to 0-7 it finished. Strokestown effort ended with the sending off. Plenty of breaks went Moycullens way but were the better team on the day and deserved their win.
Not too shabby from Strokestown. A tight match is great for Maigh Cuilinn.

Time for a rhubarb tart, maybe
Twice now Moycullen have rode their luck against teams they were supposed to hammer and twice they've coasted past teams in MM & Westport in what were supposed to be close games.
Moycullen 1/16 to beat Tourlestrane.

Westport match probably said more about them and apparently had a stag party this weekend before. Only seen the highlights of the Mountbellew Moylough match and in a 9 point win two of the 3 goals was total gifts from a wandering goalkeeper.
Interesting Pearse Stadium chosen over Tuam for the final.

No surprise, Moycullen are far more familiar with Pearse Stadium than Tuam in terms of matches played in each venue, it was highlighted in the run up to the Strokestown match by GBFM on a preview piece.

I think it's the Connacht GAA that pick venues. Picking Pearses Stadium adds 20+ miles on the trip for Tourlestrane.
Are you suggesting the CC (aka JP) would try and favour the bigger Counties ;D

Maybe it's different at senior level but certainly at junior and intermediate the club used to get the choice of which county designated venue they want to use. Our club was in a Connacht final some years back and had the choice of Tuam, Pearse or Duggan Park in Ballinasloe.
I have no idea how Tourlestrane and Moycullen will match up. Tourlestrane did very well to get out of Pairc Sean given the position at half-time. Tourlestrane in the Sligo Championship won every game in a close manner even ones they were expected to win well. They have shown remarkable calmness in the face of late deficits. It's exciting to see how they do against opposition of this calibre. As a Sligoman, it's impossible to doubt Tourlestrane. They get written off all the time and never waiver. I will be surprised if Tourlestrane doesn't put it up to Moycullen. Looking forward to it.
Obviously disappointed with my own clubs performance against Galway opposition in the intermediate. We had 2 bad injuries going into it in Jack Davitt who scored the 2 goals against Mayo in the u20 final and there is simply a big dropoff from our starting 15 to the subs to counter that loss. Also losing our full back and then making way too many positional switches just killed any of the flow we had running into it. The gap between our championship finishing and the Connacht games I don't think helped ourselves or Tourlestrane, 5 weeks is a long time with others playing finals after and then a knockout game before. Marys looked alot sharper 1st half but Tourlestrane found their legs 2nd half and snuffed them out.
Dominics 1-12 Aughnasheelin 0-5.

Kiltoom the venue and on next Saturday which doesn't seem very fair to Dominics. Sensible option was surely Hyde Park on the 11th of December?
The senior final between Moycullen and Tourlestrane next Sunday will now start at 12:45pm because it will be be on TG4 i believe
Is it true that the Ronans/Clifden Junior Final is on in the Hyde at the same time as Doms/Dunmore is on in Kiltoom less than 25km away?

Yes Junior and intermediate finals are on Saturday at the same time in different venues which makes little sense.
Well done Tooreen Hurlers on winning yet another Connacht title. 0-22 to 1-15 winners against Killimor of Galway.

Could have been played different days or different weekends. All-Ireland semi finals aren't on until January.
Galway champions in front at half time in the two Connacht finals. A bit daft both finals are on the same day at the same time in different venues but John Prenty and Co know best.

St Dominics 0-8 Dunmore 1-6
Double for Galway.
