The vast majority of times I've seen any 'trouble' at gaa matches (that is, verbals getting out of hand) its been women involved

I don't think she'd every start anything, but good grief the amount of times I've had to tell her to relax . . . then again, I'm grateful she cares!

Half an hour reading through this forum and you'd come out with the opposite opinion.

Yea but there is no harm in keeping the Gaa on its toes either.

It would have been in the editorial section of the print newspaper

Well that is good.
Pity all English media articles about the GAA always have to mention the various bans.

In fairness, if they didn't mention them they'd have the usual suspects going mental that they didn't mention them. Although now that I think about it, rugby union's ban on those who 'went North' i.e. played rugby league, never seems to get an airing these days

Speaking as an immigrant of 11 years, my observation and experience would lead me to say that the GAA sports is a shining beacon of the better side of humanity, and not just as regards sports.
The inclusivity, passion, popularity and spectacle of GAA sports competes, albeit mostly in just one country, with the Olympics in its positive social impact and its expression of ideals. Rugby Union shares many of these positive attributes but doesn't come close to matching the gender equality of GAA sports.
As a foreigner here with a professional interest in sport I have been, and am, gob-smacked and blown away with how brilliant the GAA sport community is and at how successfully it is the beating heart of Irish communities.
