Armagh Senior Hurling Championship

Lurgan v Keady in Pearse Og Park, Armagh

Both on Sunday evening as far as I've heard, not sure of times.

Any predictions from the hurling folk in Armagh or are Keady still the superior side?

Middletown are the team to beat as reigning champions. Plus they beat keady well in their last meeting, I think it was an Ulster league game. Middletown now have the services of young carville back from the states as well.
I don't know much about cuchulians, excuse my spelling, but think they'll be up against it. Are they not very reliant on Decky Coulter, but then again so was the county team!

Why are both games on at the same time so no neutrals can watch both games? Oh, heard tonite both games are at 12.30 on Sunday.

Lads, if ye're willing to get me detailed statistics on each ref plus provide me with a full DVD of each game to check the results, by all means....  :D

Okay, time for my weekly series of shots in the dark. All I ask from ye is that ye bear this in mind the next time someone tries to tell you that PP is more Irish than Ladbrokes. Should be all up on site within the hour....

Dungiven have to be the bet of the weekend... Loup by no means a 1/2 shot at the best of times!!
Title: Re: Club games this weekend (9th September)
Post by: Maximus Marillius on September 06, 2007, 04:22:43 PM
Is this the same Loup who have been in 3 of the last 4 county finals against Dungiven who not made it even to the last four in the past number of years and who play in division two?
Title: Re: Club games this weekend (9th September)
Post by: screenexile on September 06, 2007, 04:26:10 PM
Ah Max even you have to admit that Dungiven would be the form team going into this weekend's match... 10/1 for a draw in our match?? Here maybe your people and my people could get together and make something happen ;)
Title: Re: Club games this weekend (9th September)
Post by: derryexile on September 06, 2007, 04:36:00 PM
Yes the same loup team who have struggled for points in the league this year, haven't a recognised county forward, or a forward of genuine scoring potential, a suspect full back line and a huge over reliance on Johnny McBride.

Stick with my opinion, Dungiven the bet of the weekend!!

Fair play to you Lone Shark, great to have prices available for the club games.

Ballina at 7/4 might be worth a few quid if the day is wet.

Do you much interest in this Lone Shark? I opened an account myself just to bet on the local games. No other bookie seems to offer it on line. I have PP account but they cover finals in the larger counties.
Title: Re: Club games this weekend (9th September)
Post by: Lone Shark on September 10, 2007, 02:56:24 PM
It's picking up in fairness. Obviously the interest is there, it's just about making people aware that they can actually bet on this stuff. People in this country are trained to think that betting begins and ends with Paddy Powers, and that if you can't see it on PP, you can't bet on it.

That said, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, as I expected themselves and Boils chipped in this week copying me down the card. Every match they offered was no more than one price away from my lines. I assume that'll continue from now on too. However the good citizens of GAAboard will support their own, I have faith...  ;)

Down SHC Portaferry 3.30 Sunday
Ballygalget v Ballycran - I'd make Ballygalget slight favorites. They won Ulster 2 years ago and ran Newtownshrandrum to a point in the All Ireland semi.

When will the matches be up Lone Shark? I can only find tournament betting.

I take it that 1/9 for Loughguile in Antrim SHC is a misprint !!!

Sorry about this - online glitch, will be up within the next fifteen minutes.

I'll add in the Down match as well. I'd say I'll be shorter - call it 1/2 Ballygalget, 8/1 Draw 15/8 Ballycran.

1/9 Loughgiel is not a misprint - though I agree it is a strong opinion. Antrim is still very much a big three, and Ballycastle's only attempt to take on any of those early in the group stages didn't exactly go well. I wouldn't take huge money at that price obviously enough, but it will be live if you want to have a nibble at the 9/2 Ballycastle. I know 13% is a reasonable amount of margin, normally 9/2 would correspond with 1/7, but I have to be a little more cagey seeing as I'm stabbing in the dark with a lot of these.

(As you can tell, I am bluffing here a bit, needless to say a Biffo living in Galway and currently in London is not exactly perfectly well versed in Antrim Hurling)

I've backed 6 short price favorites and it comes to 16/1. How do you get the results?

Ladbrokes has a results section on their site which puts the results up or else you can just trawl through the pages of discussion for each county and normally someone there will sort you out with the results.

Okay, once more with feeling.......

I'm pretty sure I have everything here now. As per usual though, if anyone knows of any games that are missing, just let me know and I'll get them added in. The Armagh final is a live, so I'm a four point handicap on that one as well as the usual double result and winning margin stuff. If anyone can get me teams from a reasonably trustworthy source I'll do goalscorers too if wanted.....

I'll give them an hour or so just to allow for all the 9-5ers to catch up, failing that I'll get on it - cheers.

Thanks Hesh - Laois fixtures are a hoor to find. Ever since ye're website went west it's all gone a bit pear shaped. Here's what I've gone with...

Hurling      Laois Final   Sunday 3.30pm      8/13   Portlaoise   8/1   Draw   6/4   Camross
Football   Laois Semi Final  Saturday 7.30pm   8/11   Arles Killeen   13/2   Draw   11/8   Stradbally

I'm probably a bit generous on Arles, but the more football Begley plays with Stradbally the better he'll get. A good midfielder is worth two other good players at club level I find. Don't really know too much about the hurling to be honest, other than I assume Camross are playing with a lot of zeal having been horsed out of the championship initially!

I'd say you're just about right on those odds LS. Camross will probably be licking their lips at being outsiders and I'd say a few of them wouldn't mind a bit of 6/4 but Portlaoise should be the classier better balanced team.
On the website thing, yeah the official one is gone west but http://www.laoistalk.com/ has filled the void very well indeed. The forum is very lively and you'd get a lot of info on form etc there.

The Garrycastle tie is a Westmeath fixture.
