Is there really a problem? What's the evidence? If lads don't want to play more than one or two games a week they will vote with their feet and walk away. I loved playing hurling and the only problem I had was that there was never enough matches. Soccer players got regular fixture, we didn't get near as many.
I regularly played reserve and senior games back to back on a sunday, plus a game mid week and loved every minute of it. Now I didn't care much for football and didn't play for a university (hurley's weren't allowed where I was educated) so maybe things are different now.
I'm sceptical but I'm interested in the evidence.

GAA Discussion / Waterford v Cork NHL
March 11, 2007, 09:29:30 AM
Waterford beat Cork in Walsh Park yesterday in Div 1A of the NHL. 0-16 to 0-12 with Eoin Keyy getting 9. He really does seem to be in top form at the minute. Anybody at the game? Are there any signs there for the championship.

GAA Discussion / Woman referees
November 13, 2006, 01:04:46 PM
Mike Newell, manager of the Luton Town soccer team has caused a bit of a stir by complaining about wemen referees in the mans game. Here's what he's reported as saying:

"She shouldn't be here. I know that sounds sexist but I am sexist. This is not park football, so what are women doing here? We have a problem in this country with political correctness - bringing women into the game is not the way to improve refereeing and officialdom. If you start bringing in women you have big problems. It is tokenism for the politically correct idiots."

How would guys honestly feel about a woman refereeing a senior football or hurling game?
