Complete bullshit. It is mollycoddling that has created the weaklings that are the youth of today.Just recently schools have banned running in the playground,in case someone falls and gets hurt and one school even  banned a whistle to herald the end of break time, because the noise is too aggressive.Ffs!

Persevering with sport at a high level is discipline inducing and character building.Running away due to perceived pressure is not.The youth will find as they progress through life that you cannot run away from everything.

Running away?? The guy is going away to make a living and broaden his horizons in New York. He's an amateur player whom has busted his hole for Crossmaglen and Armagh in the past. As much as we love the GAA ,it is not the be all and end all for every player who pulls on a jersey. Honestly Fearon you should quit with this Jamie Clarke stuff while you're ahead, because knowing you, you're going to end up saying something that will get you in trouble.

Worst and most depressing Championship performance since Derry in 1995 which precipitated a change of management. No positives whatsoever

Tony Kernan's outstanding point taking(2 terrific scores)  and Stefan Campbell with the exception of the free kick, (which he shouldn't have tried to take as he was injured) and the penalty miss, was outstanding.

This thread is hilarious. Syferus turns an actual Roscommon thread into a debate about Mayo, when he usually tries to turn every other thread into a discussion about Roscommon.
Worst poster on this board with the possible exception of Tony Fearon.

Working class hero , fair f**ks to him . He's an inspiration and hopefully it inspires lads from ballymun who wouldn't usually go the GAA route to do so too.

I have said it for a long time , it would prove very fruitful for the dubs if kids from disadvantaged areas started playing GAA more instead of the likes of soccer .

It's is good for the Dubs as a community if their kids played GAA, Soccer, Rugby, Basketball, tennis, in fact any sport. What is your problem with Soccer? I hate people who think you have to be anti one sport in order to be pro another.

Sorry pal if I came across that way , was not my intention . Was more in the context of it would benefit the GAA in Dublin imo if kids went the GAA route who traditionally went soccer . Nothing against soccer personally in fact I was a big supporter till only recently would of travelled over a lot to go to games etc.

My point has more to do with kids from sherif street are far more likely to play soccer than  GAA and I believe if that gets more balance in such areas that Dublin would benefit as well as the youth of such areas.

In other words break the culture of : council estate kids = soccer : private estates = GAA.  It's not a massive problem or a definite one but there is a hint of snobbery in a lot of GAA circles . It used happen down home to an extent too albeit in a different type of way . I can remember many years ago being at u-16 trials and the mentors were up the hole of lads who came from certain wealthy family's in big towns . (Not that I was ever good enough btw , was just an observation )

Soccer is too ingrained in Clondalkin, Tallaght and inner city Dublin. Its why I laugh when people talk about population bases.

GAA is king in the suburbs.
Is Clondalkin not a suburb ?

Class in Ireland is interesting. There is a definite working class in Dublin and to some extent in Cork and Limerick but it is much more fuzzy elsewhere, at least in terms of social mobility.
Because of the focus on education in rural areas, I think class is very fluid. It isn't necessarily passed on from father to son or mother to daughter. GAA players from down the country are good examples of this.

In Dublin, which has a large socially immobile working class, GAA is played by middle class people, with some exceptions in Ballymun.
In rural areas, GAA is far less socially exclusive. Rugby would do that for you although even that is changing now.

Soccer has always been the game of the masses and always will be. Its the easiest game in the world to play. More braincells required to play GAA. And before anyone starts I attend most Irish international soccer games home and abroad.

But you can't argue with history. When I was playing GAA was big in the inner city but as it became more industrialised the clubs moved out to the suburbs. The inner city became more dilapidated and run down. Soccer took hold. Ballymun as a cLub as far as I recall was started by country people who settled there - so it's a different case in my opinion.

Lot spoken about Ballymun but a lot of their players come from middle class estates in Glasnevin and Drumcondra - which is old money regions with very well off families . Houses ranging from 500k -750k

Surely players from Drumcondra would play for St Vincents and Glasnevin for Na Fianna? seeing as Ballymun Kickhams as a club are located right out at the airport?

Not in our lifetimes.Meanwhile why don't we all aspire to be Northern Irish with or own unique culture as a priority instead of chasing pipe dreams, and develop special relationships?

That's great,so you will be supporting the NI team from now on then,so we won't have to listen to blab on about the Irish team.

If you're looking for your own unique Northern Irish culture, surely then you should be interested in sports which are widespread in terms of cross-community  support and involvement up there, so you should probably start following Ulster Rugby and disassociate yourself with the GAA.

A good first step would be deleting your account on this website and refraining from ever posting here again.

No one new on Terrys backroom team. Kevin Downes has stepped up to the roll of trainer and the strength and conditioning coach think his name is McGovern are the trio for this year.

Is Eoin Maguire from Dublin not the Strength and Conditioning Coach???

BHM are you getting the supposeds from Hoganstand? If so that guy is a complete moron who posts lies constantly.

McKeever isn't really a loss, didn't get enough game time, a fantastic servant though. Flanagan and Corr are losses, Corr was one of our best players this year and was very effective around the middle. Flanagan, well that's a solid presence gone. Jack, Martin and Barry.. We had a flash from Dunne against Galway and Barry against Roscommon in the Championship but 3 fringe players in reality.

I'd be interested to see what David Brady could do if he was given a run at Senior Level.

Good stock of talent this year in the U21s.. Tomas Galligan, David Brady, Pearse Smith, Liam Galligan, Ben Kelly, Tom Hayes, Barry Fortune, Ryan Connolly... Tyrone in Breffni in the first round, reigning All Ireland Champions.

I heard about Jack Brady and Martin Dunne from other sources, both weren't happy with their game time this year, and to be fair i couldn't blame them if they didn't go back in. Barry Reily i seen on hoganstand and that would be a suprise,I'd have thought Hyland would probably have given him a chance to claim the centre forward position, after the impact he made against Roscommon.

So, Mossy Corr,Ronan Flanagan,Mark McKeever  are definitely gone and "supposedly" Jack Brady,Martin Dunne, and Barry Reily aren't going to be in the panel in 2016,With Givney,Keating and Enda Hessin approached about rejoining the panel.  I know they played a trial game against Meath in the last couple of weeks with a number of new lads tried out.

I'm afraid kingscourt were totally outclassed, Kilcoo just miles better. Sad but true.

I see, What do you lads reckon the problem is then?? Too many teams in the senior championship, some of whom have no business being there?
Do we need to run the Junior and Intermediate  competitions before the senior starts to allow for  properly prepared divisional/amalgamation teams to enter to improve quality???
It's hard to know, Kingscourt would have by my reckoning, 3 certain starters(if fit) for the IC team next year,Faulkner,Barry Reily and Tinnelly with Joe Dillon  and James Farrelly other potential panel members.
Its not a great sign if our county champions with probably 4/5 members of next years county panel are getting  a doing like that.

Were Kilcoo brilliant, or Kingscourt awful, or does the truth lie somewhere in between?
Hardly fair on Kingscourt having to play on their own rather than joined up with loads of other teams.

Hilarious post, it's nearly as funny as the other thousand times, you've had a go at Cavan amalgamations.

Yep we were disappointing as Itchy said, great workrate and effort, but just came up short. Davie is going to be  an absolute star, he's already a beast of a man and he's only 18.
I didn't stay for the Kingscourt game, They are better than that, even if Kilcoo are very strong, what happened??

There's a Moore lad for Ballyhaise that i hadn't copped before but seen him twice this year and looks seriously accurate and is a big boy. Anyone else know him at all?
Podge/Padraig Moore would be the younger brother of Frank Moore whom Rodney mentioned and is probably the lad you're talking about,he has caused havoc in the senior league this year. He has serious speed as well as size.

That Stephen Smith from Ballyhaise seems a good footballer. Physical presence too. Did he ever get a chance near a county panel?

He was on the county under 21 panel in 2002/2003,but he was in college in Wales for 4 years after that. He is a serious player for us.
Have to give plaudits to Chris Curran as well, he was brilliant for Swad,He nearly single-handidly took the fight to us last Sunday, class player. Is he still playing Irish League Football? Terry should do everything he can to get him on the county panel for 2016.
