GAA Discussion / Re: R.I.P. Farrandeelin

I said to myself I'd never post on this forum again but when I heard Farr had died I had to pay my respects. At times when I had no right to respect he treated me with it.

Once of the most genuine supporters you'd ever find with not even a hint of arrogance or condescension. A truly class human being.

The only fitting thing I can say is Mayo Abú. When they finally win one I know he will be smiling. You'll be missed.

What a stupid comment.

Amazing that he can still surprise with that but seemingly he can.

Heard Sligo have had a rake of defections.

Bears only themselves to blame. No reason to beat the Vikings last week and it's come back to bite them

This perspective is absolutely insane

I can't answer that im afraid although if it was a last chance saloon for caff and Regan like some were saying , it could be the last game they play .

No point reading too much into anything right now. I haven't a clue what is going on in Horan's head but I would take a lot of his utterances right now with a pinch of salt.
Maybe lads will be given a chance to play themselves off the team. I remember Tom Parsons was given a chance to play himself off the team/panel even in Horan's first coming. He managed to do so, even though I thought he did well in the games I saw him play. One of the daftest decisions I've ever seen and that is not just in hindsight. What Horan would do for a fit Parsons now. The one player we cant replace at this time imo.
Forget about 2019 being written off larry89. It will be hell-for-leather when it heats up. This building-a-team for the future is a load of bollix. There is continuous development and wastage. Look back at the old team sheets. The players that were good enough arrived fast and stayed a while. Others were hawked a bit, but when you look back, you wonder what-de-f**k was that about?!

Is there anything to be said for singing another Gareth Brooks song, Moysider?

What do you suggest? Dont know any Gareth Brooks songs?

Friends in Low Places would suit

Regan is more than welcome to switch to his father's county if he wants a fair crack of the whip.

Massive relief for James and the goys. They will realise of course they will have to step it for the clash with the tribesmen at the football Mecca of Tuam stadium to keep on course for their ambitious plan of securing the FBD title . Our midfield looks magnificent with the agile seamie kicking some wonderful long range passes , if you squint your eyes a little you'd think it was Ciaran Mac.

I'd say there would have been more relief for Horan if we had lost!

On a serious note , I don't believe he would of been . He wants lots of games. It's become very clear from mutterings from local jouurnos ,media etc this is a long term project , 2019 has been wrote off in terms of ambition . Which is fair enough I suppose . Smart money is on Galway to win Connacht but the smartest money is on Roscommon beating Mayo also .

Ger Cafferkey is starting at full Back! How can that be looking to the future. The poor lad has been in free fall since his serious injury and is now 32.

Don't worry Bunker, ye still have young guns like Keith Higgins and Andy Moran to come back in for the Galway game

Good to see the Rhus and Laythrums being so evenly matched.
Hopefully our new manager can get us above that level what with our depleted panel and fall out from the previous regime

Rossfan's obsession with Kevin McStay enters a new year. I doubt it was Kevin who suggested a player become a doctor..

If only Leitrim had Keith Beirne.

Given he's barely had any proper chances at this level yet declaring it good or bad business either way is crazy tbh.

He could be worth double that fee alone after one good season. Klopp for all his cheerleading has mostly leaned on big money purchases rather than player development.
