Boris being admitted to hospital is not that surprising if you read today's papers but will knock the stuffing out of the UK Government.  He must regret his hypocrisy and belief that people should do as he says not as he does, a bit like Brolly.  He must be at risk of pneumonia which is not good.  Raab to take temporary charge? God help us all.  Leo stepping forward is a selfless gesture,  people will cynical but fair play.

When I think of all the people that wouldn't have died if there was a competent PM - I cannot help but think "f**k him".

Bad and all as Johnson is, he's an Einstein compared to Raab who chairs the Cabinet meeting tomorrow am; God bless us all!

I read the article. He is mostly correct except the GAA can't really do much. Perhaps it could ask Hoganstand to shut down their forums (mostly toxic and of no use) and clubs/counties but an independent forum like this?

To be honest when I started here it was really informative, very witty and bullshit intolerant. If you came in acting the maggot you got a few slaps to knock the corners off you and on we went. It's still the best place I've found if you're looking for information but the bullshit has largely taken over.

Ultimately I don't know what the answer is. I'm still here I suppose.

I find this place mostly informative. It's just a shame some PRACTICALLY ALL threads degenerate into handbag stuff. If two contributors are having a ding-dong there should be a rule that it can't go on for more than three replies; it gets fierce tedious wading through page after page of it.

An open draw like the fa cup would help smaller teams cause  a lucky draw and you could easily get to a quarter final and gives smaller country fans hope if dublin drew against kerry in the first round that is one of them out you could even do a double chance where the teams that lose in the 1st round play each other and losers are eliminated the winners play each other  then the losers meet the winners like in the down championship you have round 2a and round 2b only its done with 32 teams.

Last figures I saw Dublin had 39,000 registered GAA players.
I would suspect 90 to 95% are football only or football primarily.

Thats 182 players per club in Dublin...

That figure must include kids, but the adult male numbers are what we are discussing, and its not the highest playing pool. And add in again the number of non Dubs playing in Dublin etc.

If it includes kids for Dublin, the corresponding figures for other counties will also include kids. Yes you could remove the none Dubs. But it still wouldn't make a dent in the number between Dublin and the next biggest. I don't know why you are persisting with this line of argument. It's just wrong.

All I am saying is the pool is not as big as you think it is.

It's not about the quantity. What counts is the quality. That is where the GAA money comes in.

I have to say that I'm sorry to see Brolly get the heave. Yes, he infuriatingly interrupts and talks over others but I'm sure we all do when we're involved in conversations where we feel passionately about the issue on the table. I enjoy this liveliness that he brings to proceedings and, despite all this, he invariably brings some sensible analysis on the game being broadcast. I also like to listen to O'Rourke with his level headed opinion and Spillane is good betimes. Whelan, that wonderful on-field role model, is a pain in the ass and can't see beyond his Dubs who, incidentally,  I also admire although I'm hoping for a Kerry win on Saturday.

So for the AIF we'll have Spillane, Whelan and Cantwell, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ; please God we'll get another great game.

My personal opinion?

Sid that's a ridiculous comment to make. Is that really what Sunday Mass used to be like. The thousands of good decent hard working priests who don't think like that at all should be hugely offended by your attempt to label the vast majority of good priests with the relatively small number of offenders.

I'm not an apologist for the Catholic Church, far from it, I take the view they are bang out of order on a range of issues, but I couldn't let your lazy analysis pass without letting you know it's cheap and particularly nasty.
