Barney

This one is obviously whetting the appetite.

Kerry lads realise that they have already beaten the Connacht Champions elect, under one of the finest managers of all time, and that Mayo are generally a pushover for them.

No point in us really commenting - facing a 15 - 20 point defeat I suppose?

diehard

Yeah I reckon we should give the Kerry lads the points and arrange a challenge with Limerick or Clare!  ;)

Zulu

Recent league results would suggest this will be close but with Kerry at home and a couple of wins under their belts you'd have to fancy them to take it. In saying that Mayo are one of the more consistent counties in league football so I'd give them a decent chance, so it will be close but Kerry to win by 2 or 3 points in the end.

Farrandeelin

Yes, I fully expect Kerry to win this one handy enough, the fact they blew Galway out to sea last Sunday and they're at home this time round. Oh Mayo God help us!

Yerra, ye need't even bother wasting the diesel coming all the way down the road lads! ::)

Very few will I d say. With our U21s gone mayo folk will see very little football - the away match to Cork will be a big ask as well. That only leaves the Monaghan game.

We re not getting much tv time either. I got Setanta mainly for the Saturday night football. This is the second year in a row we haven't got a live match and second year in a row we have 4 away games in the fixtures. Not good. I cant do much about the fixtures but Setanta is getting the boot. Much as I enjoy all the games, Mayo games being ignored is not going to be tolerated. I mean why could Setanta not have shown Mayo/Derry recording on Monday night? Instead of endless replays of Tyrone and Dublin games? And dont give me the not enough cameras stuff.

Not enough money more like. Setanta are really struggling since they lost their UK wing. (Incidentally I think if you have an eircom broadband package you don't need to subscribe, you can watch for free online).

To be fair, we haven't done ourselves any favours with the McHale Park floodlights issue, means our home games can't be shown. But for most Mayo fans the away games would be more important, because you'll probably go to the home games anyway.

Kerry v Mayo, Tralee, 2.30pm

Kerry and Mayo is always one of those unpredictable league encounters where the form-book can almost always be thrown out the window.

Kerry made a sluggish start to the league, Mayo have taken three wins from four games and only lost to league-leaders Dublin by a point.

A ding-dong battle is expected in Austin Stack Park, where home advantage may just sway a Kingdom victory by a point or two at the end

VERDICT – Kerry

Because it costs too much to show games from those venues. I'm not jokng thats why they don't. I'm not saying its right but you did ask the question. They reason why they show Dublin matches is becasue overheads are low. Cork the same- easy to shift equipment to- centrally placed etc. Pairc Tailteann the same in meath. Only down the road.

They take a major hit showing the likes of Tyrone in Omagh and Kerry in Tralee. But they have to because they are the flagship Gaelic Football teams. They aren't like TG4 and RTE with huge subsidies from the taxpayer. Look at the hurling matches they show. Limerick- Kilkenny-Tipp. Easy locations to get to.

How many game do Setanta show of the Connacht rugby team in the Sportsground? Only the Irish games - leinster etc. Because its a nightmare logistically for them and it costs too much.

Unfortunately thats the reason why. I fully see where you are coming from but thats business unfortunately.

You're extremely negative. If Mayo have Mcgarrity in the middle i expect a close game. Kerry only got the better of Mayo when Meehan went off. Clancy nearly got a goal when Kerry were 5 up that would have brought them back into it. And that was a shocking Galway team.
With Dillon back and Ronaldo returning from suspension we have great options up front.
I expect to see Conroy full-back tomorrow on Donaghy. If i don't then I'd have to question JOM. No point in Caff getting another roasting when we can spare him that.  He's too nice a footballer on the pitch IMO.
Kerry have Maher and Moran in the middle. I dont fancy D Moran at all so i expect Mayo will be even in this sector if not winning it (depending on McGarrity's availability).
Amazing the options Mayo now have in the forwards: A Moran/ S O'Shea/Trev Mort/Varley/ A O'Shea/A Dillon/M Ronaldson/ A Freeman/ N Douglas/ C Mort/ A Kilcoyne/ B Moran.
All genuine forwards with plenty of scoring ability.
P.s. M Sweeney is not good enough for Mayo senior team. Too small. He seems like a last throw of the dice player purely because of his speed. Jason Doherty/James Kicullen/James Burke/Kevin Keane/A Campbell are much better options to have in squad

?? nuts. are you serious, if its easy to get to cork its easy to get anywhere in ireland. anyway the whole point is wrong because its not transport costs that are their problem. they want to show the dubs full stop

But it was Barney who started all the negativity and I didn't want to stop him!!! Kilcoyne is back doing some sort of training with the panel as well I believe.

Kilcoyne is back training a good while, just waiting for all clear from specialist. Forever Hopeful called it on the money - Conroy in at full back for Caff. Debatable to be honest.
Mayo for Sam! Just don't ask me for a year
