From Hoganstand.  Joinned up thinking maybe?

GAA will watch Euro 2012 draw closely
16 November 2011

Provincial council chiefs will be amongst those glued to the Euro 2012 draw on December 2nd.

Depending on when the Republic of Ireland will be in action in Poland and Ukraine next summer, some provincial championship matches may be moved to avoid a fixtures clash.

If Gio's Army are scheduled to play at the same time as a senior intercounty football or hurling match, attendances at the GAA games could suffer as interest in the soccer would be phenomenal - so provincial councils have indicated a willing to re-jig their fixtures.

Both Ulster and Leinster Council have suggested that they will take the Euro 2012 draw into account.

"We're conscious of what's going on next June and we'd be hopeful that we'd be able to avoid a clash," says Ulster Council president Aoghan Farrell.

Leinster chief Michael Delaney added: "I can't speak for other provincial councils, but I know we would certainly be keen to avoid a clash and we'll be as flexible as we have to be."

Good to see a bit of common sense.

Tank fcuk it's all over come today/Sunday/actually when do the t**sers stop wearing them?

So anyone who wears a poppy is a t@@ser?

A sectarian a comment as you could not wish to read considering the vast majority of people from N Ireland who wear them are protestants.

No, did I say they were, the t**ser description is aimed at the people who continue to wear the poppies above and beyond the norm.

"Sectarian comment" - catch yourself on.

Where did you say that it was aimed at the people who continue to wear the poppies above and beyond the norm?

Fact is you didn't !!  This is what you said.....

Tank fcuk it's all over come today/Sunday/actually when do the t**sers stop wearing them?

You were talking about anyone who wore them !

So your going to tell me what I think and mean now!
You read what you want into it!
Just like creating a "sectarian comment" out of something which in no way was one.

You told the board what you  think.

Stop digging !!

No, you read into my post what you wanted to hear, FFS you even tried turning it into a "sectarian comment!"

But you were talking about anyone who wore them, not ones who wore them after Rememberance Day as you later claimed.

And you know fine rightly that its mostly Protestants who wear them , hence the sectarianism !

Can't really be bothered with this, but here goes -
No I wasn't talking about everyone who wore them, I have explained this already, if you don't want to accept that then that's your perogative, as for your sectarian slant thats just bullshit, religion doesn't come into it for the majority of poppy wearers (except here), you'll find religion well down the list of priorities for most English, Scottish and Welsh.

Whilst it is clear that TBOTOB has nothing to do with the Provisional IRA (unless you add the words "Provisional wing" in after the bit about joining the IRA), can anyone tell me why some think it is appropriate for Celtic fans to sing this song?

Personally, I can't think of any reason.
Why some think it is appropriate for Celtic fans to sing this song?

I'd presume there are some  who think that the song is part of an ethnic Irish cultural identity and that identity is strong part of the Celtic FC.
It's a grand song, as songs go about olden rebel days.

I don't think it's appropriate and under UEFA regulations it could fall under the category of political content which is deemed inappropriate.

But to my mind, that's not the bigger issue.
It appears to me (I'm not quite sure) that the law in Scotland is left wide open for the police to interpret and define what constitutes an offense.
And because the police say it is an offense, therefore it is an offense.

If that is the case, then I would find that very disturbing.

One of the reasons why the Green Brigade are against the new law.
Grant Adams (Rangers under 21 keeper, brother of Charlie Adams) has fallen foul of this law (afaik) already.

Seems a bit unfair that the hosts get seeded into Pot1 without even having to qualify!

Current rankings:

Ireland - 25
Ukraine - 58
Poland - 64

In more news that everybody knew already,Andy Reid has agreed terms on a 2 year deal with Forest, subject to a medical, and this fact has brought all the japesters on twitter.

Jokes such as he'll only pass the medical if he puts the KFC bucket down, or christ I hope they don't make it too excessive, have seen him become a top trending topic, along with jokes such as Hooters have now shelved their all you can eat wings deal.

I for one applaud the deal. I have seen some people on facebook(i know,i know, never the bastion of intelligence) suggesting this is a terrible deal...Well how is a free transfer for a player playing in the Premier League a bad deal for a Championship club? I think some people are genuinely only expecting "stellar" signings.

Lets also not forget we had a deal to bring him in on loan last season set up till Mr Davies quashed the move, not wanting the Irish left sided midfielder back at Forest. Well no sooner has he gone, then we bring him back into the fold.

This is a player who has has had a number of big money moves, taking him from here with Michael Dawson to Spurs, from there to Charlton, where he captained the Addicks,to Sunderland and on to Blackpool with a loan at Sheffield United, where nobody in the world was going to succeed.

He has played 286 league games in his career, scoring 35 goals, with 48 assists.
