Spy writer John Le Carre, aged 89.

At his best, (The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, A Small Town In Germany, t**ker, Tailor...), he was a sparse and detailed writer. A lot of his novels were overwritten and slow moving though, and in a rather camp style. Not good for a man to write like a woman I think.
