I think the North are a better team.Evans and Davis are a better calibre of player than anything the FAI side has,they manage games very well,concede very few goals,and unbelievably are on course for a record fifth consecutive win in competitive games.I think the overall strength of their group is at least on a par with the FAI's.

In short if the North were to meet the south in a play off,currently I would favour the North,and it's all down to the management.

I agree with this.  The north remind me of the south under Charlton, able to make the most of their resources and the whole being greater than the sum of the parts, or whatever that phrase is.  International football is generally shite and that's probably why a team as poor as Ireland are ranked 29th.  Low quality players and I include Cristiano Hoolahan in that and a manager who probably thinks 0-0 at home against Antarctica is a good result.

Tyrone might be looking at a decade or longer of mediocrity. The thing about being hammered at the business end is that it is often career ending. System meltdown is not good.

Mediocrity?  Winning provincial titles and making the last four?

Tyrone players and supporters might expect (demand?) more, that's their prerogative but it will take a fair regression to lead them to mediocrity.

Yeah, this year Tyrone were well ahead of anything else in Ulster, don't see that changing much in the next 12 months.

no tyrone are miles ahead of the the teams they played this year .
tht is all they could do  but if you take the  view that ulster are now the weakest province for which there is a lot of evidence the yesterday was not quiet as suprising .

Taking Tyrone's weaknesses as seen yesterday as read, I'd be fairly confident they'd comfortably beat all those teams.  It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see Dublin, Mayo, Kerry and Tyrone in the semis next year.  I think the Dubs will win the final by 5-8 points and if they have the hunger, passion committment etc I can see them doing 5 or 6 in a row.

A couple of posters mentioned this after the game yesterday but it needs repeating, i don't think this Tyrone side have the bottle and you can't coach that.  They kicked away a qtr final last year v. Mayo when they should have won but crumbled in front of the posts.  Yesterday they never laid a hand on the Dubs and were pressurised into individual errors that they didn't make against the Ulster sides, they rolled over yesterday.  I think that's the biggest hurdle they have to get over.  We also saw that players like C McCann, Bradley, McCurry, Sludden, McGeary simply aren't good enough.

The only downside for the Dubs was that a big section of their supporters can't recognise their players.

I'd agree with all that with exception to Sludden who I think is a fantastic player who could grace any team in the country.

Take your point about Sludden, yeah he's had a good year but do you really think he'd make the Dubs panel? Being honest I'd say that only Harte, S Cavanagh and maybe McCarron all at their tip top best would get in the squad.

I didn't see the evening show but the pundits on the afternoon show most definitely commented on the Cavanagh assault.

Cavanagh shouldn't be anywhere near an all star after that violence on the pitch yesterday.
