Quote from: gallsman on Today at 11:00:54 AMAh I missed that, apologies. Yes I was talking about O'Shea but equally would be surprised with Ryan. Has generally managed to regroup but he's been annihilated on kickouts in the first half of each of the last two games.

Every keeper is getting hammered at kick-outs. That's the way it's going to be.

Plus not alm the keeper's fault.

Quote from: blanketattack on Today at 10:57:56 AMAt the weekend Shane Ryan used one hand to swing up off the crossbar and the other to save a point attempt. Is that illegal?

I remember that.

But was thinking would it not be easier to just jump up. Would you not get the same height?

In a similiar vein to rugby line outs, I'd wonder if a few lads on goal-line 'rugby lifted' a mid-fielder say, in a controlled fashion in stopping a point from a 45 for example.

Would the referee blow it and under what rule?

Donegal 7  (Roarty,McCole,Moore,Langan,Thompson,Murphy,Conor O'Donnell)
Kerry 5   (David Clifford,Sean O Shea, Joe O'Connor.Jason Foley,Ó Beaglaíoch
Tyrone 1  (Kieran McGeary)
Meath 1  (Sean Rafferty)

And 1 for a beaten Quarter finalists (Beggan)

They'll throw Sam Mulroy one as well, first Leinster champions outside Dublin since before the year of the flood.

Yeah, Louth will get 1 for winning  Leinster and Mulroy's your man there.

Are the pre-season competitions gone for good now e.g. Mc Kenna Cup and O'Byrne Cup etc.?

Quote from: Round or stuffed on July 13, 2025, 10:36:39 AMWhat happens with the championship draw, a number of club have highlighted issue with the fixtures put out, will it be redrawn

What are the fixture issues?

in intermediate, one group has no free round for any team and fixtures are repeated, Lisburn are down to play Sarsfields twice, same with Rasharkin and st Endas, other issues in senior and junior, as well as the hurling, email issued to clubs stating a number of concerns have been raised

Was it the county board that messed up the draw?

The 2 football semi-finals ovr the week-end were very disappointing.

I expected a lot more from Tyrone than Meath but both were poor, especially in the 2nd half.

Tyrone, after a bright start, fizzled away badly. Missed chances early on Seemed to suck the life out of them. Hard to know what went wrong.

I suppose Meath, Tyrone and Derry will be bursting to get out of Div. 2 next season. One will lose out you'd think.

Quote from: RedHand88 on July 13, 2025, 05:42:16 PMI noticed there that Donegal are wearing the gps trackers and Meath are not. Shows the difference between the two set ups.
Would have thought all county sides have them, a lot of club teams would be wearing them,

Some have them in their jerseys.

Others wear them in a vest.

Would that be roughly the same panel of Meath players the CO'R had?

When you strip it back in a week or so, it's been a good year for Meath - to where they had come from. Everything is relative.

They made good progress this year after a few very poor years so it's positive. Today, clearly, is a learning experience.

The age profile is decent and get  few more players on board after the club championship and Brennan will be raring to go in Div. 2 in early '26.

Hard to believe that the county season is nearly over.

Harte on the circuit big time and has been for years.  Can't get enough of it.

You'd think that he'd sit nd watch the match at home. Like Mc Conville too, into the media all the time.

Mc Ginley is knowledgeable. Good live match analysis in my opinion.

Someone needs to get in Clifford's face 🤷

It'll not matter.

You think roughing him up will put him off?

Mc Kernan is a muppet.

Got Clifford booked.

Wee Davy gives his breakdown on the Cork demolition of Dublin and where Dublin went wrong.

I'd agree with him on most of it as the Dublin half backs were caught in limbo as they never pushed up on the Cork half forwards who were roaming around midfield picking up an abundance of loose ball and able to pick out their FF line as the very same Dublin half backs weren't covering back enough in front of their fullback line leaving them badly exposed.

you either stay deep to cover that space to prevent the ball going into those spaces but allow yourselves to be outnumbered in midfield where Cork can take long range points and kill you off that way or you follow them out the field and make that area an absolute battleground and be extremely physical in there to put the Cork halfbacks and midfield on their arses and not allow them the time and space to get the running game going or to get quality ball into their full forward line.

Clare did it last year, backed their corner backs in particular to do a job on their respective markers and hope your midfielders can punch holes in the Cork defence which the Dublin lads were able to do even with the scraps they were working from.
The problem was they were leaking heavily at the back.

Will Tipp push out on the Cork half forwards and maybe keep Connolly back in around the house and allow Maher the freer role???

Much to ponder for Liam Cahill going into next Sunday week.

Davy Fitz giving out about Dublin and their management after the year he had with Antrim.

OMG.

Quote from: AustinPowers on July 10, 2025, 07:12:39 PMIs the  train  into Drumcondra an option for Ulster teams? From the likes of Dunboyne/Enfield?

How about the airport bus?  Would this be a good  option to avoid  traffic jams  around Drumcondra? And would this provide a  good head start for  the journey home again?

Do what Michael O'Leary did and buy a taxi licence.  :)

Straight on to the bus/taxi lane.
