England will be playing the first team this tournament that actually has real pedigree, they haven't been behind and have really enjoyed a charmed life, even the USA game while playing crap they were still for large parts in control.

The real pressure will be on next day out and Gareth will tighten things up and you are looking at penalties
5 at the back with 2 cdms. If not then Mbappe and Co will tear Maguire a new one.

I see caught on video in a nightclub shifting the face of a young lad who isn't his partner. Personally I couldn't care less but the silence of media today is worth noting. Would it be so silent if

1 - it was a woman TD caught snogging a man who wasn't her partner

Or

2 - if it was Mary Lou McDonald (this would be front page news for 6 months)
Or another male td shifting a woman…

Depends what party
Of course.
Anyway, Leo’s business is Leo’s business, as is Mary-Lou’s and every other politicians. As long as everythings consensual then the media don’t need to be telling us about anything they get up to

All well and good but if the shoe was on the other foot LV would slaughter Mary Lou if it had been a member of SF caught in the act. In fact he'll probably say SF edited it to look like him ::)
Absolutely. Be headline news for a month with Joe Duffy flat out

It was good while it lasted! I was sitting pretty at the top there but my glory days have faded, with only Argentina and Holland left.

The Argies could at least get you to the final
Would be surprised if they even beat Holland tbh! Brazil looking seriously impressive too

Biggest issue with the North I believe is that across the board we want world class services. We want a world class health system, infrastructure, (roads, housing developments etc) schools and everything on our doorstep. Biggest problem is that we don't want to pay for it. God knows how much the health service needs to get back into shape, NIW state that they need two billion just to get up to standard. Yet if anyone dare mentions ways to fund this like water charges or streamline services we don't want to make the hard choices. We can't have it both ways looking a world class services without paying for it.

Same as the doctors and nurses you want more of them you gotta pay them to make them want to work in the industry.
I think a massive issue is the money thats being wasted. Obvious, easy targets like MLA’s still getting paid or the ridiculous ppe contracts the Tories gave their mates over covid. People are taxed enough.

As good to watch as that Brazil team are I just can’t support them with Neymar in the team.

Never a penalty either which killed the game, not that it would have mattered. Croatia will be better set up defensively to deal with them, should be a closer game at least. Nice to see the Pele tributes, would be very fitting for them to win another one for the great man to see.

That was about the worst collective set of penalties I’ve ever seen. Shocking from Japan.

It is amazing how a skilled team can fall on one particular small skill.
Isn't it ?

Not get away with that for the soccer if that goes ahead

To be expected I suppose when you have a club team with the resources of a county. Hope Kilcoo beat them again

Need to get over Glen first. Only lost after extra time in the AI final and no Shane Walsh then.  Any chance that Mannion will be fit for the AI series I'd wonder.

What is the craic with mannion he seems like an injury machine spends serious time on the sidelines - be some addition if he was back and fit tho
Think it was the cruciate last year, could be wrong but know it was something serious enough, another long term one this year as well, awful frustrating for him I’m sure. Some loss to any team

Fair play to the English fans, I've changed my mind on them and now I don't quite want them to get the cruel defeat I dreamed about. A standard defeat will be good enough.
As a nation I think we should agree a temporary truce with the French over 2009 and unite behind them for the next week

Even  english fans at the World Cup  support the Palestinians.  There’s a couple of videos about with English fans shouting ‘free Palestine ‘ on Israeli TV

Apparently the Israeli media  are generally  being shunned by supporters, and  some taxis/restaurants  in Qatar are refusing to deal with them or take their money
Seen that, was fairly surprised tbh

General discussion / Re: Price of a Pint
« on: December 05, 2022, 09:51:55 AM »
Went to Cassidy’s for a pint the other night on the way home from a gig. Ordered 2 pints and went to pay by card. Young lad says £10 minimum charge so took the £10 off the card and handed me change back of £2.60. £3.70 a pint. Couldn’t complain about that

Thats what id be used to in Derry. Northern Ireland has the highest pint prices in UK(yuk) and Belfast naturally highest in north.
Belfast would be as bad as Dublin now would it? A fiver is loads for a pint imo

Complete change of subject.

Are there any decent bars in Belfast to watch the football this Saturday? Google is telling me Franklins. Any thoughts?
The points should have it, good music in it as well
