Premier League - City fan regrets Kaka tattoo
Eurosport - Fri, 06 Feb 14:04:00 2009

A Manchester City fan has admitted his embarrassment after having 'Kaka' tattooed on his chest before the Milan star snubbed the club last month.

Christopher Atkinson, 25, attempted to cover up the tattoo after the transfer fell through, but friends discovered it.

"They haven't stopped taking the Mick. Kaka's one of my favourite players. I got carried away by the emotion of him coming here," Atkinson, of Altrincham in Cheshire, told The Sun.

"I wanted to show off. I just hope we go for him this summer.

"It's taken a few weeks to see the funny side. At least I have a permanent reminder of how close City came to signing him."

Despite the disappointment, Atkinson has pledged to get another player's name stencilled on to his body.

He said: "I'm having a Robinho tattoo next."

Robinho has been linked with a summer move to Chelsea.

General discussion / The Official TV Thread
December 28, 2008, 10:46:53 AM
After missing the 'Road to Croker' last night, I thought I'd start this thread for people to post recommendations of things that are on the TV. I am not one of those people who tend to watch some obscure sky channel for a documentary on underwater butterfly wrestling in the pacific, but feel free to educate on this thread as well.

So tonight I'll probably be watching;

BBC1 at 8pm: The 39 Steps
Mostly because the wife has a thing for Rupert Penry-Jones

BBC1 at 10:35pm: Match of the Day

CH4 at 6:15pm: The Secret Millionaire Changed my Life.

RTE1 at 6:30pm: Celebrity Baínisteoir

RTE1 at 9:30pm: Young Irish and wealthy

I'll probably have to get the SKY+ in action mind you.

GAA Discussion / Pictures from Tyrone 2008
November 13, 2008, 04:25:13 PM
Folks I am looking for some pics in a hurry of Tyrone in 2008. I have (ahem) borrowed the ones from the Tyrone v Kerry thread, but was looking a few more. Anyone got any wee clips, a pic of Packie's save, or Joe McMahon's celebration v The Dubs?

Cheers

General discussion / SKY+ to DVD
September 27, 2008, 11:15:21 AM
Chaps with my SKY+ AI final in mind, how does one take from SKY+ to DVD.

I was hoping I could pull it onto the laptop as a file, but I believe I need a DVD recorder. Is that right?

General discussion / A Decent Football Story...
August 10, 2008, 08:58:47 PM
After Aston Villa deciding to let a charity take their sponsor's spot for this season. Another decent footballer....

Former Luton midfielder Don Hutchison will sponsor two of the club's youth-team players, after refusing his final pay packet at Kenilworth Road.

Hutchison was released by cash-strapped Luton at the end of last season.

But the former Scotland international will now sponsor youngsters Scott Sinclair and Jake Howells for the forthcoming campaign.

"This is a truly amazing gesture by Don," Luton managing director Gary Sweet told the club's website.

"For a player to turn around and refuse his final pay packet and instead ask to sponsor a youth player is unheard of.

"This shows the type of man that Don is, and what football means to him."

Hutchison spent just one season at Kenilworth Road, after a career which included spells at Liverpool, Everton and West Ham.

General discussion / Wayne Rooney

Well?

Mine a few months back and you had 9 pages of character assasination of John Terry 'gobbing'
http://gaaboard.com/board/index.php?topic=7887.0 despite the inconclusive evidence, and the fact that he was never found guilty of the offence.

I see no-one has bothered to start the same assisantion of Rooney as you all so quickly did re Terry. I'd be fairly sure Rooney didn't do it, but sure that hardly matters on here sure.

I am not interested in things like foul infringements, scoring rules etc.

General discussion / Jeff Stelling- Legend

I had the honour of meeting the ledgend once. Complete gent.

Met him in a hotel the night before a Chelsea match a few years back. At the time one of our group had got leukemia and couldn't go, so I asked Jeff to say hello to him the next day during soccer Saturday...

....sure enough he did it, much to my surprise. The obnoxious, drunken irish men hadn't put him off.

It then transpired that the fella who the request was for hadn't hear it, so I emailed SKY to ask could they send a copy or whatever. Got an email from Stelling himself, saying that a tape was in the post, and to let him know if there was any more problems!

Steven Howard and Barry Hayles to Leicester get things moving.

This could be a bigger transfer window than normal. You consider that Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool have all declared an interest in signing, the ANC will force some clubs hand, and then a lot of clubs are under new owners who want to flex their muscles.

I'd predict Berbatov to Man U for £20million plus, with Wes Brown going the other way perhaps with Louis Saha. Anelka to head to Stamford Bridge in the next few days for £10 to £12 million.  That'll give Spurs and Bolton cash to splash. Chelsea should also seal the deal for Franco Di Santo.

General discussion / What's Santa bringing the weins?
December 14, 2007, 11:28:07 PM
Seeing as in the 'top 3 moments of 2007AD' thread we had a lot of new parents...
...what are the wee ones getting from santa?

The wee fella (Age 3) is Lightning McQueen mad, so he has asked for 'Lightning' stuff and Rory the Racing Car stuff. He also wants a new Chelsea jersey, but his mother won't believe me that that's what he asked for.

The neices and nephews are getting Wii's, and a PSP. Me thinks I'll be in there house on Christmas morning  ;D

BTW...if anyone's interested in wee stocking fillers, this crowd are very good. I got a wee box for each of the nieces and nephews last year, and it went a storm. It'll only cost me £20 odd.
