Poor enough alright but Galway football not over popular in their own County and an absolute shite of a day to deter a walk up crowd plus of course feckin Salthill to deter any neutrals or soft support.
Pricing wouldn't help either.

You think neutrals would want to go it anyway?

Rossfan

Some would.
A Provincial Final and 2 of 2018's last 8.

The attendances of the last few Galway v Roscommon Connacht finals

24,324 2016 draw in Salthill
15,960 2016 replay in Castlebar
18,287 2017 in Salthill
18,864  2018 in Hyde Park (capacity was restricted)

In summary a bit of a novelty for the first final, the replay got the lowest while last Sunday's attendance wasn't far off the last final in Salthill.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

I thought myself there looked a lot more there this year than in 2017. It's too bad people get turned away by the weather and the worry about traffic because if you go early, get breakfast, lunch or some drinks, Salthill has a great old vibe. I'm most surprised with Galway supporters after getting knocked out of the hurling that they wouldn't come out in some sort of force and bring a sense of occasion to Connacht Final day. They were a top 4 team afterall last year. Life is short. Nothing beats being there.

The main Galway football support is from lough corrib as far as Glinsk. If north Galway people don't go to a game the support is quite poor for the Galway footballers. Salthill magnifies this.

"while Clones' St Tiernach's Park has a reduced capacity of 29,000 for the novel pairing of Cavan and Donegal."

:o

Anyone know what the story is here? Is this a one off reduction or is it something more permanent and related to health and safety? The Armagh v Down Ulster Final of 1999 had an official attendance of over 36,000 and I recall (I think) a Tyrone v Cavan final since that with a crowd in excess of 35,000.

Crazy on Munster final, I was at the 1987 replay in Killarney, there was 53k official in attendance, probably more like 60k + were in the stadium.

Not a bad crowd for leinster considering. Although worth noting that kids <5 were likely free into the other two games but not Croker
