who cares

Big lad had a few pints.

Three tournaments in a row for Argentina now. The work Scaloni has done had been incredible. Messi still has value for them, but I hope they're able to let him go once that stops and we don't see him embarrassing himself in a tournament the way Ronaldo did this year.

Quote from: Jell 0 Biafra on July 15, 2024, 03:17:19 AMIt's an all-seater stadium, and supposedly up to 5000 Colombians have crashed it.  Where are they sitting?

Decent game so far. Colombia far the better in the first half.

Be a lot of Colombians in Miami who'd not necessarily be overly respectful of the rules...

When England equalised, Spain got a hold of the ball for the next 10/15 minutes and ran rings around England. Deserving winners and if they can unearth a decent striker they'd be big favourites for the World Cup.

England not gonna win things with Jordan Pickford hoofing the ball up the pitch every time he gets it. Kane is done at that level. He'll still score goals in the German league but he offered nothing to England. Still it's another golden boot to his collection.

Captain Scarlet

Christ the standard of punditry from the English is a joke. Juan Mata and Fabregas showing them up.

Get Palmer on...so take off Saka? Oh no!
Harry Kane needs to be dropped for Watkin...but he is aiming for the Golden Boot...oh well then...

As a group they seem together but on the pitch they all want to be heroes. Why can't foden do it? It's almost like he doesn't have Rodri, De Bruyne and Silva's class with him, or that Englan can't control the ball...

Bellingham plays as a False 9 for Real backed up by Kroos and he has 2 flyers either side. Essentially ALL the England front men want to be in the Number 10 spot.

Even Rice is meant to be a holding player, but he wants to bomb on, but without the protection he gets at Aresenal.

I love these combined 11s before the Final where barely any Spanish players make the team.

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

That's exactly it. Each of these boys are very good with the right players and system behind them. They don't have that here.

It's honestly like they don't want to admit that they need the foreign lads with the actual game intelligence to run the show and allow them to just play their game as they want.

I dont watch a lot of soccerball, but couple of my kids have got really into it so finished up watching the final last night.
From a amateur fan pov, Spain were head and shoulders a better side.
Question I have is if the Premier League is the best league in the world, is it made that way because there are so many foreign players in it?

Great to see England beat mind :)

On a slightly separate note, the tactics are very similar to modern day intercounty football tactics. Maybe the new rule should be an offside rule?  ;D

The simple answer to that is yes.

Technically the Spanish players are miles ahead of England.

I think that's exactly what's happening and has been for years.

Thought everyone be too busy celebrating the Spaniards :D

Not the only one but jeepers Foden had an awful tournament...fecker does it week in, week out for city but was no where to be seen for England

Really good first half against Holland but that was it. I don't think the way the midfield is setup suits too many of them.

Rice was unbelievably poor and Bellingham wasn't much better other than his one moment of genius. Southgate is and always has been a rubbish coach but the players have been way below par too. I'm just enjoying the media ganging up on Southgate the same media that thought he was the messiah when he was doing the exact same thing maybe even worse in 2018

Sportacus

The English players are over hyped.  They've convinced themselves that pound for pound they have the best players.  Really?  Any better than Portugal, France, Germany, even Belgium?  And  of course Spain who passed them off the park.  Add in a duff manager and they are set up to fail.
Quite a few of them found out at this tournament as well:  Walker dreadful.  Rice, the epitome of over-rated.  Bellingham, too busy thinking about the cameras.
As for Kane, I'm convinced that not for the first time, he's made himself available when he isn't fit.

Messi was in tears when taken off injured. Last match for his country or felt that injury would stop them winning?

Was a plus for Argentina and their management to win that final without Messi on the field.
