In the past France dropped Griezmann back into MF to dictate play, and Argentina dropped Messi back for the same during the last WC, but England persisted with a failed mix between park the bus and up-and-at-em, they had too many looking to play the '10' role which they believe is code for being handed the ball from others hard work and making things happen. In the end the back 5-6 were left doing all the work while Bellingham Foden Kane in particular got a free pass

A few things that seemed to stand out

- Rice while very industrious lacks guile, and by that I mean it takes him too long to get the ball out of his feet and to pass it on, his range of passing is also rather limited
- Pickford has an erection for booting leather off the ball
- Bellingham plays for himself
- Kane is either finished or carrying an injury or both, at some point the manager or player himself should have started other options for the good of the team but they didn't, flashbacks of Kane playing the CL Final for Spurs while injured and being absolutely dung

The really messed up not bringing Grealish, he's a powerhouse of a man and could have played centre midfield with ease, far more experienced and a major upgrade on Rice Mainoo Gallagher Trent in that position

Spain worthy winners in the end, a case of what could have been for England

Fierce man for driving it long alright, does the same for Everton.

Elephant in the room was Kane, offered nothing in open play so no outball when England did have a bit of possession.
Every bit as untouchable as Ronaldo and Portugal, but English press won't see that.

Cucurella will be smiling all season when the PL kicks off again.

Rice was unbelievably poor and Bellingham wasn't much better other than his one moment of genius. Southgate is and always has been a rubbish coach but the players have been way below par too. I'm just enjoying the media ganging up on Southgate the same media that thought he was the messiah when he was doing the exact same thing maybe even worse in 2018

Rice got away with murder in the penalty box, dragging opponents down on at least two occasions without penalties being awarded. Added to that, shouldn't have been in final anyway. Was no foul on Kane for the penalty, and Saka handled it in box a second before. Ref was abysmal in that game.

There was comments on X that if England had won, Jack Grealish would be this generation's Jimmy Greaves. I don't think Grealish has tweeted since the English squad was announced in early June. He opted for Wimbledon yesterday. I wonder if he will ever play for England again. His stock might have risen again after the way they played.

I wouldn't worry about Jack. It's a while since he worried about us.

Foden, Kane and Bellingham were all way below par and the question is why? Was it the long seasons they all played or injurues they carried into the tournament?

Milltown Row2

Long season for all those players...

England got a handy draw as things panned out, that lead them to a team with a higher ranking which ultimately beat them.

Said before, this is nowhere near the best English team for many a year.

Not sure if Southgate will do anything in the PL
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Southgate has resigned.

they do have good players and a proper manager could get them over the line so let's hope it's a Southgate Mark 2 appointment.

Captain Scarlet

A good manager would still not be able to get all the stars crammed into the starting 11. Then they will be on the back foot straight away.

We want Trent!, etc.

Plus, when you look at some of the players who stepped up, there is no guarantee of Watkins, Palmer and more producing year on year.

They still have no left back coming through either.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

They're a collection of individuals - I don't think the players are as good as made out(or close).

I always thought we punched above our weight and were always better than the sum of our parts(north and south tbf). I don't ever remember an england team who could be accused of that...
