Unionist's will vote against, and why wouldn't they, there's a solid Irish Sea Border.
Everyone else will vote in favour because it's the only feasible solution.
Just another day at Stormont.

Quote from: Armagh18 on December 06, 2024, 06:36:19 PMFor all the talk of paying managers, would it not make more sense to pay refs? I know they get a small amount for expenses but would decent money not make it more attractive? They'll have it handy enough now with the 50 yard rule as well.
Well, if there was a way to channel whatever money is out there, to refs and underage teams, I'd vote for it in the morning.  But the monster has already been created unfortunately.

Quote from: AustinPowers on December 06, 2024, 10:59:06 AMAll good advice, thanks.

Everyone deals with it  differently I suppose. But as someone said, getting another dog  soon after might help  with the loss.  I'm not sure if they will go with that , given  he was  in the family so long , it might feel like they're replacing him  very quickly  without  really grieving. I know that's how I still  feel nearly three years later, after our dog died.

It's just the hours and days in particular , after it that's going to hit them hard.  Getting cushions made  and photos printed  will be done I'm sure,  but it's just the emptiness  immediately afterwards
It's a very very tough loss. Do what you're doing: talk about it; enjoy the memories; grieve; take your time on any future decisions, there are a lot of pros and cons.

If Sligo kick on they'll be a tough nut to crack.

Quote from: Brendan on December 04, 2024, 04:07:51 PMThe FAI publish a map in a Match programme with the 6 counties a different colour and Derry labeled "Londonderry", makes me wonder why I even aspire to a United Ireland, well always just be Brits to the Free Staters

I wouldn't judge us all based on FAI. Clearly some clown grabbed a map from Google. Earlier in the year, they had to apologise to Latvia after their effort to translate the names of the Latvian u21 players. This is a grab of the program.

Players include:

Robert the Liar
Bruno the Black
Dario shit
Gleb liked it

It's not just the FAI, it's RTE, it's Micheal Martin, it's our fellow gaels when they call us Brits at matches etc

The general election thread is also grim reading. You do wonder sometimes how many people down south give a shite about people up north  ::)  You would just hope it's representative of the minority and not the majority. I am not convinced those two, non SF, major parties are all that bothered.

Depends how you look at that. A huge effort was put in by Varadkar and Coveney to keep north in EU internal market after Brexit. Ireland (26 county part) is now a net contributor to EU and is paying for the whole island. They wasn't worth one vote in 26 but is helping business and farmers in north and annoying greatly the TUV. Dublin continues to fund Erasmus for students north of border. 50 million was given to Magee, another 50 committed to Casement, 600 million going to A5, 25 million to train service from Belfast to Dublin, funding for nurses.

Yes, they are poor on outlining a plan for unity but now that south has a bit of money and clout in the world (ie Brexit negotiations), they have made some effort at last. Will never make up for 90 years of neglect, of course. And Martin's comments were a disgrace. But things are changing overall with the parties as Brian Feeney's column today outlined.
Doesn't seem to have done any damage whatsoever with the electorate.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on November 30, 2024, 05:35:10 PMIt's all very flat. I see one rugby pod talking how this series captured the imagination.

It's so dead at the matches and it feels like a few DARE I SAY IT...friendlies.

Surely that's just rugby generally?
Great to play but a largely boring sport to watch.
Long periods of set piece, kick tennis, tackle / recycle, etc. then small bursts of activity when someone slips a tackle.

Wholesale rule changes i say...
Campese did a great radio interview during the week.  He said he knows a lot of players from his era who don't watch rugby anymore.  He said once it turned professional they pulled in the Rugby League defence coaches and it was never the same since.  The days of a tap and go try from under your posts are long gone.

Shocking bit of micro managing there from VAR to rule out that Southampton goal.  Took them nearly five minutes and eventually they found a fault.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on November 26, 2024, 10:02:18 PMThe slide for Manchester City continues, letting a 3 goal lead slip and only drawing at home with Feyenoord.  No excuse for Liverpool not to beat Manchester City on Sunday and to win comfortably.

Elsewhere Arsenal took full advantage of a Sporting team that lost their manager.
This Champions League format is a slow aul burn.

This thread inspired me to break a decade long hiatus from the board because I had forgotten just how much Armagh ones on the internet can whinge! Hadn't heard much out of them for years to the point that I was cheering for them lately  ;D

It was a good game of football and I think Kelly's second yellow was soft, but he was walking a tight rope with a few fouls and there's always a likelihood that might happen. There wasn't much between the teams but Ruairi Canavan's quality meant Errigal probably deserved it on balance. A performance like that in bad conditions is special and I'm glad we get to see him again in the final.

That said, I don't think Errigal have enough of a dog in them to beat Kilcoo, in what will probably be a hateful game.
I don't think they're short in that department.

Small margins.  Clann Eireann looked cert for a goal, but Niall Kelly got back on the line and cleared his lines. Great defending.

Only started a couple of days and there's 1.6 Million signatures
It's strange how this has grown legs and yet they were lied to about Brexit and none of them would dare mention it.
