Quote from: galwayman on April 23, 2025, 09:17:42 PMThere was big hopes for that Derry team.

Hopes high because of Derry winning U17 All Irelands the last two years and Hogan cup for St. Pat's, Maghera however it was probably a year too soon for that Derry U20 team this year.  Tyrone won the U17 Ulster in 2022 and they have 10 starters from last years U20 All Ireland winning team.

Tyrone are also selecting from Omagh's Hogan cup winning squad and the age group when 3 of the 4 McRory Cup semi finalists where Tyrone schools.

Yes a very strong Omagh school team.

The triggered trio.  Gawa316, quit yo jibbajabba and last but not least Laoislad with his three accounts is most certain the Curly poster of this forum.

To all supporters on here a genuine congrats to Liverpool on winning the league title.  1990 was far too long for a club of their history and tradition for a full Anfield to see a league title lifted up and it's a club that never lost it's soul during that wait unlike the the crowd that has won the last four league titles.

Quote from: Capt Pat on April 23, 2025, 10:02:04 PMA good result for Liverpool. It allows them to win the league on the field at Anfield with just a draw.
And to think some Liverpool supporters on here got triggered when I said months ago that Liverpool had the title won already and the only question left was how many matches to spare the title will be won by? the answer is now known with four games to spare.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on April 21, 2025, 10:19:41 PMBe a good manager for Tottingham.....hang on....

Nuno should be pretty pleased with a home and away win against spuds this season a mere 17 matches is all they gave him in charge almost as stupid as getting rid of Jose Mourinho days before a cup final.

Quote from: Aaron Boone on April 21, 2025, 10:21:20 PMSpurs so poor this year. But Mr Postecoglou has promised a trophy so the Europa League is incoming.

Arsenal and Chelsea will win the other two European trophies, so late- May will be a busy time for London's open-top bus companies.

If Tottenham aren't beaten by Bodo Glimt they should be beaten in the final.  I wouldn't put any life savings on Arsenal to win a European trophy.  Chelsea should win after all even West Ham under David Moyes managed to win that Flower vase trophy.

Quote from: ONeill on April 21, 2025, 10:00:09 PMFair play to Forest. Just when you think their bubble has burst, they pull another big result out.

Nuno EspĂrito Santo should be named Premier League Manager of the year should Nottingham Forest secure Champions League football for next season.

Tyrone are talking themselves up as All Ireland contenders again and coming up against a fairly patched up Armagh who was poor for half the match against a Division four Antrim. It's very much Tyrone's game to lose.

Quote from: EoinW on April 20, 2025, 11:54:14 AMOne other problem: you are allowing a small committee to have complete say over the entire game.  It appears they've been given carte blanche to do whatever they like.  Is there any time limit to FRC activities or is their dictatorial power over the game open ended?

Thus the goal is more entertainment and more action.  The FRC believes Kerry hitting long balls to David Clifford to be good for the game...which is fine.  When Ethan Rafferty, and other Ulster goalkeepers, run riot through opposing defences the FRC suddenly isn't interested in more excitement and scoring and put a stop to it.  You see the problem?  The FRC is picking winners and losers.

No major sport has ever overhauled its entire game like the GAA has just done.  Normally it's one rule change, to test the waters, then another and so on.  The National Football League has been desperate to get more offence into its game.  Every rule change going back to the 1970s has been in favour of the offence and to handicap the defence.  They've finally accomplished what they wanted: all offence, all passing and all action.  What the NFL took decades to do, the GAA is trying to do in months.  Football traditionalists will tell you both organisations have one goal: to destroy the offence-defence balance.  In other words, ruin the game.

I'm not trying to say who is right or wrong.  Obviously I'm in the camp of the traditionalists but that doesn't mean I'm right.  I'm simply trying to point out that a sport with the history and tradition of Gaelic football needs to mind that history and tradition and keep an eye on the long term consequences of any changes.

The moment you open Pandora's Box and allow so many changes at once, you open the door to endless changes.  Isn't that a slippery slope?
You have hit the nail on the head.

8,243 is all that attended Kilkenny v Galway yesterday. Is it just Munster and the All-Ireland series for well attended Hurling matches nowadays?

Quote from: omagh_gael on April 20, 2025, 08:11:14 AMCork are like Man Utd, they'll raise the bar and produce a performance like that then go out with a whimper to a team like Meath.

That's a fair point.

But the key thing is every game is played on it's own merits. One game at a time. There is no such thing as picking up form i.e. winning one game by 2pts, then the next game by 5pts etc.

Just get over the line. Every game is different and there's no comparsion between the game that went before.

Look at Galway and Mayo - just win each game. Who cares how and by how much? Then move on to the next game.

Didn't Mayo lose to Cork recently? Couldn't move on when Derry dumped them out of the championship last year before the All-Ireland quarter finals.

What was the odds on Fermanagh to win before this game?  Down look totally lost since half time.

No Tyrone man with a ounce of common sense would slag off Mickey Harte. Zero Senior All Ireland titles won before he changed that and made household names out of players. Even the last AI title was the team that Harte built.   The chap on here needs to change his username to bullshitsayer

Always like a good underdog story and good to see Bodo Glimt reach the last four of the Europa League.  In the Conference league Djurgardens have reached the last four would be great if that scandinavian pair could topple the two Londoners Tottenham,Chelsea next.
