Great effort.
It was there for the taken but we just don't have the forwards clinical enough to win games like that. Having said that, I thought we had a chance when they got the black card at the end. We were lucky they were missing key players. I don't think we would be good enough to beat Kildare unfortunately.

Well done Laois. By far the better team. Definitely coached well. Wexford are really poor so I'm not really sure where we are compared to Louth. We need someone in the full forward line. There's no option in there for a long quick ball. Other than frees I'd keep our goalkeeper in goals. He's not good enough now it's man to man. He also let in one very soft goal.

Louth are beatable but we won't get it as easy as last night.

Very sobering reality today. Ladies get hammered by Cork and the Lads barely get over New York. This is a reflection of the work done over the last 15 years in this county. Both groups are doing their best but we aren't producing players anymore. We need to get better people in at board level. That's where it all begins.

Seems like a long gap between the 2 matches on Sunday. Is there a reason for this? Would be nice to hold onto the crowd for the ladies match.

Not sure if there's much evidence that McNulty is a good coach. His teams are physically fit & strong. If he's playing against a superior team he puts bodies behind the ball. But outside of that he it limited. We're lucky Carlow are in our group and going so bad but Fermanagh & Wicklow are playing better football. We should get through because 3 qualify. Next year we need a good football coach in the setup or we will struggle.

Surely there's more psychological damage in getting a hiding from Offaly at home than getting expectedly beaten by Dublin.

We got a reality check yesterday. You can't expect a manager to come in and miraculously lift a county that has mismanaged its development of players of the last 20years. It's impossible. In the Tailteann Cup we will beat most division 4 teams and maybe some division 3 teams but as soon as we meet quality we're gone.

This years division 4 was very poor. Today proved that. Has Justin McNulty ever won a Leinster Championship match?

Quote from: Laois Rising on March 23, 2024, 02:39:21 PMBar the Leitrim game it has been a solid league campaign. With promotion pretty much in the bag I wonder were the squad put through a hard training week prior the Leitrim game. It might explain the performance, especially the last 15-20minutes where Leitrim were the far more energetic and lively team by the end. The test of this team will be the Offaly game and ensuring that they reach the latter stages of the Tailteann Cup where we show competitiveness against whoever we may face.

A hard training week 🤦🏻♂️. Who would do that. It's like something from 20 years ago. That would increase injury risk. They lost. Not good enough on the day. It's more likely that we were fitter that most early in the season and things are levelling out now.

Early season fitness and new management bounce is probably wearing off now. Promotion to division 3 achieved which is great but the rest of the year could be a hard watch... hope not.

Probably the first proper team they played all year. That didn't help them. Intermediate championship is not hard enough in Laois. Crying out for 4 senior teams to be relegated.

Port were so bad it hard to figure out how good Josephs are.

We don't have a manager so they're hardly back training.

Obviously you have a personal issue with Kevin. Maybe when you have done half of what he's done you can talk. Getting that Portlaoise team to a County final is an achievement.

If you look at Portlaoise and the players he's got. They are improving despite this. They nearly beat port last year only for a last minute save. They're in a final this year and have improved as the year has progressed. Negative tactics? That's every football team in the country. Don't be naive. We're an average division 4 team. We can only attract unproven former players. Why not try one of our own?

Kevin Fitzpatrick should be the next Laois manager with Mick Dempsey & Pat Critchley in his back room team.

Why go for the likes of Ger Brennan when you have someone who was twice the player and has put in the hard work at club level.
