God bless Thatcherism which created a nation of shareholders and which paved the way for huge private sector profits and salaries, the eventual purchase of all the major utilities- gas, water and electricity to foreign governments and now the need for taxpayer's to come back in to possibly bale them out. You couldn't make it up

Even better you curb public sector pay increases because of their impact inflation but it's got nothing to do with these profits at all.

Milltown Row2

It must have been the safest area to buy shares and it gets bailed out when it fucks up!!

Even that ultra left wing organisation the IMF is attributing a lot of the inflation being experienced in the UK and Europe is excess corporate profits..

Can someone explain this to me please?? How can a company issue bonuses or even dividends if the company is run at a loss?  So its all just a grift, take over a company, load it with debt, pay yourself and shareholders loads of cash and leave it in the shit. How is there no protection against this shit, especially for essential amenities such as water, energy etc.

Utilities such as water and electricity shouldn't be privatised.

As a result of privatisation NI Electricity is now owned by ESB. The loyalist workers in the power stations in Carrickfergus and Larne who were able to bring the place to a standstill in the 1970s at the drop of Paisley's hat must love that

When Eire needed the bailout and Troika were in control they wanted these privatised as they know they're cash cows for the share holders...

Its actually worse than that for the  Little Englanders in the North.

NIE own the power networks. There are three main power stations in NI, ESB have owned Coolkeeragh for decades and Kilroot/Ballylumford are owned by a Eastern European company. SONI who operate the Transmission Network are owned by Eirgrid, another ROI Semi State.

Sure they bring in water charges here, and somehow end up owing money, not finance the public purse.
