I think talk of a title challenge for Villa is a bit of a stretch to be honest.
A top 4 and winning the Conference League though would be very achievable and would be a fantastic season for them.
This is one of my 3 usernames.

I'd have to agree.  It's very hard to get out of the pessimistic routine as a supporter and actually believe that success if possible.

I dont think Villa are in the mix for the league but they certainly will be for top 4. it's an astonishing job done by Emery. He took the same squad that Gerard had (only adding Moreno in Jan) to a European finish and that trajectory has continued.

I think Emery has shown not only how good he is but also how poor Gerard is.
But yeah I think I'd agree with what you're saying.
Then again....no-one expected Leicester to win the league that year. So maybe.....

Certainly shows how poor Gerrard was. Leicester won that league in a real transition season for a lot of clubs, sure wasn't Tottenham their many challengers for most of that season?

Aston Villa will do well to finish this season in the top four. The expected top four will be Liverpool,Manchester City,Arsenal and Newcastle.

Main question on Emery is his time with Arsenal and did he get enough time. They let him go in November into his 2nd season. Arteta in his first two seasons with Arsenal finished 8th in the Premier League.

Think it was Arsenal threw it away they said for the Leicester season

gawa316

It was spurs...I remember Kane posting something like a pride of Lions moving in for the kill...they ended up 3rd!

Arsenal finished 2nd 😜
Ah I'm not here to fight lol. I vaguely recall a match where Leics beat them with a typical smash and grab maybe if Arsenal had won that one they would've been in prime position

Anyway. Up the villa. Good ebening 😆

I think we might be both right, maybe me just being a wee bit more ;D

Arsenal were top after 20 odd games but from 25 games on Spurs were chasing them. Arsenal were 4th with 3 games to go. Spurs finished DLL and Arsenal pipped them to 2nd

manfromdelmonte

The sky 6 certainly don't look as strong this season

Could be the year to do it

Did you mean Leicester were top after 20 odd games?

Flip sake I thought this was sorted, QYJ conceded and all!! ;D

No Arsenal were top after 20 league games. They were actually top 19 through 22 games played

Jell 0 Biafra

I'd forgotten Arsenal were ever top that season. Thought Leicester led from earlier on.

Someone's gonna have to watch the season review. Nothing else for it.

I nominate gawa 😆
