GAA Discussion / Tyrone training for the future
October 20, 2008, 02:01:14 PM
Has anyone seen the latest push to raise money for the the new £6 Million training complex to be built at Garvaghy, near Ballygawley. It invloves paying a £10 a month for 5 years to a draw with the first prize being £10,000.00 and a number of other cash prizes. Clubs will be able to draw down a grant based on the amount of members that sign up to the draw. So be warned that tickets sellers will be on the door step once again.

General discussion / North of Ireland Assembly
October 10, 2008, 10:46:16 AM
What do people think about the current situation. They haven't met in months and they are still getting paid for doing sweet F A. If anything it shows that this part of the Island is still being run from head office in London when things can go on as normal without an executive. Read in one of the papers that the north receives something in the region of 8 Billion pounds a year from England, thats alot of money. Does anyone know how much the north pays into the purse of London a year through taxes etc.

General discussion / Our brave hero's
September 02, 2008, 10:34:11 AM
QuoteBelfast City councillors have voted in favour of a reception for members of the armed forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What do people reckon about this parade, as if we need another one. The best thing to do would be to organise bus loads of nationalists from all over the north and give each of them a tricolour and lets give them a warm Irish welcome one that they will never forget. Could you imagine it, them parading through Belfast to a sea of green white and orange. It would look good for cross community relations.  ;D

GAA Discussion / 40 Minute Game
August 21, 2008, 09:43:14 AM
Was watching Reelin in the years the other evening on RTE and in the usual section where it shows that years All Irelands finals, it mentioned about the first 40 minute game to be played, it was between Kerry and ????? (can't remember the other team). It got me thinking. would it be an idea to make the games 40 mins now due to the fact that the fitness levels of the players have improved alot over the last decade. Would it lead to better matches or is the 35 mins long enough.

GAA Discussion / 3G Football pitchs
August 06, 2008, 11:53:20 AM
Guys need to know what clubs/schools have had one of these pitches installed within the last year or so in the north here. Need to have a look at one for work reasons. Are they a good job, do they burn the legs off you if you fall on them. What are your thoughts on them.

General discussion / 12th Holidays
June 03, 2008, 03:07:29 PM
Just had alook at the ole work Holiday chart there and to my surprise we are only off the Monday after the Twelfth. That means we have only been given 11 statutory days this year compared to 12 every other year. Are other places the same or are we been shafted.

General discussion / Rough times ahead
April 25, 2008, 09:28:44 AM
I see unionists/Loyalists are finally going to get rid of the Parades commission. This surely can't be good for the nationalist communities that are in council area's that have a unionist majority. I tell you what, we are going to get shafted by this new exective as there doesn't seem to be many benifits for the nationalist side. I hope Adams and Co + SDLP know what they are doing and not just sitting in office getting their nice big pay cheques and looking after no 1 instead of the people who put them there.

General discussion / Road Deaths
February 05, 2008, 09:30:51 AM
Over heard a conversation last nite about the recent road deaths in the north here and one person made a very interesting statement. He said that he thought the majority of the people killed on the roads are catholic. Is there any way of finding out the stats on this. No smart remarks please.

General discussion / BBC & UTV - shame on you
August 03, 2007, 09:35:53 AM
Thougth this topic needed to be started in this section to get an overall view. Both the BBC & UTV have decided to end their mid week programs covering the all ireland due to lack of viewers. Can you fu*kin believe it, talk about equality. This should not be allowed to happen, christ the biggest sporting competion on this Island and these two broadcasters are just going to ignore it. Its a bit of a coincidence that on Tuesday this prod from fermanagh comes out in public to say he was been abused and then all of a sudden they are pullin their coverage. This stinks as usual.

General discussion / BNP are coming ashore
July 03, 2007, 12:53:29 PM
Taken from the BBC

The far right British National Party is planning to recruit in Northern Ireland during the marching season, Ulster Unionist Danny Kennedy has claimed.
Mr Kennedy, the UUP deputy leader, told the assembly the party was not welcome.
"I have said to them that this isn't the kind of imported hate-mongering that we want or need in Northern Ireland," he said.
the Newry and Armagh assembly member said the Orange Order was also opposed to the BNP move.
"I believe that there are indications that the BNP, members of the British Nationalist Party, are going to try and actively recruit in Northern Ireland over this year's 12 July celebrations," Mr Kennedy said.
"I very much condemn these efforts, I welcome the indications from the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland which resolutely condemn and oppose this move."
The DUP's Peter Weir also condemned the BNP.
"I think that there's a very clear signal which should be sent out by this assembly - that the type of hatred that is promulgated by the BNP has no place in our society," he said.

Loved that line in bold. As if we need two imported hate mongering organisations in this part of the world. One will do for now, that is until we figure out a way to rid this island of them.
