Quote from: Tony Baloney on February 09, 2025, 11:29:54 PMBrutal anthem as is traditional

I really don't like the American way of doing the anthem. A band playing the music and the crowd singing is much better.

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on February 08, 2025, 10:22:36 AMI haven't knowingly eaten Irwin's bread since 1995 and have only ever been in a McDonalds to use the facilities.
Living in the US I am not familiar with Irwin's, what is the issue?

Quote from: jcpen on January 29, 2025, 08:42:13 PMNew Champions League format showing its worth tonight.

In the US Paramount+ has a Golazo channel that is just bouncing around all the games as the goals are scored, quite entertaining. Micah Richards, Thierry Henry, and Jamie Carragher are the pundits.

For some of the younger age groups they have all the competitions on one page

Looks like they have over 100 schools at U14.5 level which is way more than I would have guessed.

Barca winning 5-4 now so unfortunately not guaranteed
First doesn't matter, 1st and 2nd will be paired in the draw for round of 16 and drawn against one of the two 15v18 and 16v17 games.

General discussion / Re: General Election 2024

Looks like they have finally sorted a government.

https://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2025/0114/1490626-ireland-politics/

QuoteTwo Independent TDs will attend Cabinet meetings as super junior ministers under an agreement reached to pave the way for the formation of the next government.
The Regional Independent Group will have two ministers at the Cabinet table, but they will not hold senior ministries.
It is likely that these posts will go to Galway East TD Seán Canney and Galway West TD Noel Grealish.
Seven TDs from the Regional Independents are set to support the next government as part of an agreement with Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael.
Meanwhile, Independent TDs Michael and Danny Healy-Rae have also reached an agreement to support the incoming government.
Tonight they are only saying "job done" and will reveal more details of their agreement early tomorrow.
The Cabinet breakdown will see Fianna Fáil hold eight senior roles to Fine Gael's seven.
It is expected that Micheál Martin will hold the office of Taoiseach until some point in 2027 and possibly for a longer duration than the Fine Gael leader...

I am glad none of the left wing parties are involved, make FF/FG plus assorted Independents own it and hopefully present a left wing alternative at the next election (though I am not confident that that the various left wing parties can be that coordinated).

Do the schools that are part of the amalgamation have single school teams for those who aren't good enough for the amalgamation (maybe playing in one of the lower competitions). The amalgamation is obviously good for the few from each school who make the team, not so good for those that would be on their own school team if it existed.

Quote from: J70 on January 14, 2025, 07:25:55 PMAre all the lads going to these big northern schools all heading to their nearest secondary school in the morning like the lads from Donegal?

Some of the grammar schools would have a big catchment area, in Newry St. Colmans and the Abbey would have boys coming in from a good bit of South Armagh and South Down.
