Quote from: 03,05,08 on December 06, 2024, 01:47:17 PMThe Poor people in the 26 getting called bad names when they have a partitionist mindset, I'm not going to sleep tonight with the guilt of all they have had to endure.

Again, just throw out shite like this but cry your lamps out when so much as a murmur is raised by someone in the south not wanting Mary Lou to be their overlord.

That's where I think SF need to step back a bit of the United Ireland bit.

Lets get the UI first before we consider the socialist republic bit.

Quote from: Eamonnca1 on December 06, 2024, 06:03:51 AMWe're not talking about a mild mannered surgeon here. This is a wealthy CEO of a legalized extortion racket that was directly responsible for the deaths of innocent people and bankruptcy and hardship for millions, many of them elderly and vulnerable. After he took over as CEO, UHC's denial rate jumped from 8.7% to 22.7%, double the industry average. He also wasn't averse to a bit of insider trading, selling off stock before making it public that the corporation was being investigated for antitrust violations.

He belongs in the same category as Dr Harold Shipman. The lack of outrage about his death is entirely to be expected.

The key word there is "legalised"...

UHC are allowed to do what they do because there's not enough checks and balances to protect the actual paying customers and therein lies the problem with unabated capitalism where human beings are cash cows, commodities, consumers...
There is no accountability for these CEO's, directors, investors, they chase the bottom line at all costs and sail off into the sunset on their Yachts and don't give a f**k.
When people on the receiving end see no way out, no legal recourse they take actions into their own hands like we see here.
I do struggle to have any sympathy for this man and his family and I do get where Puckoon is coming from as I've a good few friends who work for Thales in East Belfast, the missile manufacturer.
They're picking up their wage, taking care of their families without much thought for the damage their work does elsewhere in the world and if they didn't do it, someone else would.

What is the stateside take on the professional hit job on the CEO of a health insurance provider just before a board meeting in NYC?

Was he a shyster responsible for their policy of Deny, Delay, Defend which screwed over lots of their customers or was he about to turn whistle blower?

Quote from: Turf on December 04, 2024, 09:40:23 PMEverton find some form with a very good win tonight. Goodison will be rocking on Saturday.
Liverpool really need to win that or the pressure will be on big time.

Hmmm, Mykolenko up against Sala, Young v Diaz...

It isn't going to be pretty, another 4-0 for Dyche to ponder...

Quote from: Turf on December 05, 2024, 07:18:33 AMYou could also argue why did no Liverpool player go with Schar.
Not a bad point on reflection but back to winning ways a must on Saturday as Arsenal and Chelsea are flying and City are back winning.

Probably because they all felt Kelleher would deal with it as it didn't look like the hardest ball in the world to catch with no one near him.

I suppose he's still a few brownie points in the bag from previous performances.

Quote from: Orior on December 05, 2024, 08:50:10 AMUltra unionist Jim Allister voted for Brexit to take back control.

Then he complains that he is governed under rules imposed by a foreign state (the EU).

Then he is in Westminster voting on a law which only affects the people in England & Wales.

The assisted dying bill?

I thought that myself when there were clips of some local MP's giving their tuppence worth on it and presumably voting on it and it won't impact here or Scotland...

Hard to beat yet another proxy war and proof that not only are the Russians on the ground in Syria but so are the US.

In the meantime innocents will die.

The Israelis must be loving this.

You need proof that Russians and the US are on the ground in Syria?? Where have you been?

Yeah, there are too many 'proxy wars'. Look at Iran's proxy war with Israel and by extension the US, using the hapless Palestinians as cannon fodder. Palestinians aren't fighting a legitimate struggle for freedom, just pawns in a 'proxy war', right?

Palestinians are fighting for their survival right now.. Where have you been the last 40 plus years?

Quote from: AustinPowers on December 04, 2024, 12:36:20 AMJust finished watching  the documentary on Jean Charles De Menezes, who was shot by police in London in 2005

The story  put out about him  running away from police and  jumping the ticket gate  in the train station, was proven  to have been  made up  by the police .

So, why was he really killed?

He looked Arabic in the eyes of racists with guns..

"Next stop" everyone stares at them in the taxi..

Prods said next stop for Black hacks we just rapped the windy.

With a 50p when I used to get them from Castle street to Cavendish St.

I digress.

Anyone forced to do things like your Easter duty which I think entailed going to confession, visiting the graveyard and stations of the cross?

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on December 03, 2024, 08:47:50 AMIs there a special sign that the ref gives now for a 2 pointer? Instead of the usual arm up, does he put two arms up or does he just give the two fingered sign to the supporters?

There's training and seminars for referee's, coaches and managers happening over the next few months.

Quote from: Saffron71 on December 02, 2024, 09:36:00 PMQuery for anyone who might know this.  Am I right in saying that at senior level in terms of membership if pay for membership for your parent club who only provide one code (Say Football for example) do you still have to pay membership of another club that you are sanctioned for to play the other code (eg Hurling)?  And in woman's sport (Camogie and Ladies football) if someone was in the same situation ie playing Camogie for one club and football for another they would have to pay membership for both clubs because of the two different associations??

I can't comment with regard to the football/hurling at senior level but at underage I have to pay two memberships. This wasn't a sanction though, our club doesn't offer hurling so lads play elsewhere. The camogie/football in different clubs, you need to pay both as they are completely different organisations. As my kids have got older and played a variety of different sports I have realised the value of a GAA membership.

Do you pay these memberships via Foireann?

All associations are on Foireann and when creating your profile and family details you pick the main association per person, i.e. all my boys are the GAA and the girls are the Camogie Association.

If the club your lads are sanctioned to play hurling for ask for a membership fee from them, then that's their decision but your lads would still be insured under the football clubs membership.
