It most certainly can be loanan and that's how I would spell it.
When you say that it's a narrow country road or lane, it can be but it is not a public road. Someone owns the loanan. It is a road leading up to a house or as it's commonly known, a driveway.

For the record Mark Conway was a big help in the formation of Club Derry
and made a speech on the launch night. I wish there was more like him.
