Messages - Quarterback

Looks like Keith Higgins will be deployed in the half forward line going on the weekend - I would expect mayo to match him up on Peter Harte in an attempt to keep Peter out of the game.  Donegal did this to us with Ryan Mc Hugh and it worked a treat for 35 mins.  I'm more nervous about this game the closer it gets.  Mayo are seasoned, we will improve in the wide open spaces off Croker.  I think our superior scoring threat will get us over the line

Make the Game 13 Aside - There will be more room, more kicking and an all round better game.  Id add a video ref as well to sort out a lot of the silly stuff.

Did the galbally linesman ("tr**p" as someone else eluded to) injure penrose???

This is incorrect.  The galbally selector went over to pick Penrose up from the ground - Penrose in turn Punched the selector in the face - to which he returned the favour.  End off - Get over it there was much more cynical stuff going on within the game itself.  Its not in carmens culture to complain about a bit of slapping.

Some result today for Galbally away to carrickmore. Still think carrickmore will be difficult, come championship time. Are they missing players at the moment?

By the way, did all the Tyrone players come through the games today injury free?
Be hard to beat in the championship surely. Carrickmores history speaks for itself. I'm sure Omagh and Clonoe aren't looking forward to meeting Carrickmore in the quarter finals. Regardless of their league form, Carrickmore come good in the championship and they have plenty of the teams below them to play in the league yet.

Carmen certainly have went downhill slightly but are still a very hard nut to crack.  Galbally went point for point with them and probably had more in the legs coming into the last 10 mins.  The loss of penrose was crucial as Daly missed a few easy opportunities from frees towards the end.

Please can they Tyrone county board change fixtures to mid week or Friday nights.  For the older man who has family its difficult to spend a complete Sunday away whilst leaving the wife at home minding children.  This issue is driving so many older men out of our games.  Any thoughts on this

This weekend a lot of clubs have brought their games forward to Saturday night.  I think going forward this would be great for club football in Tyrone.  Professionalism has taken over and is driving a lot off players out of the game at club level.  You would get bigger crowds at games, family men and men working abroad would get to spend time at home instead of being away all day on a Sunday.  Anyone else think this could be a starter.

Following on from the Donegal game and the club championships - Time to start the journey.  I propose the following team.  I include young Brennan, Meyler and Conn Grugan as I believe they are better than what's there at the min.

Morgan
Cathal Mc Carron
Justin Mc Mahon
Ruairi Brennan/Padraig Hampsey
Ronan Mc Nabb
Mattie Donnelly
Barry Tierney
Colm Cavanagh
Tiarnan Mc Cann
Conor Meyler
Darren Mc Curry
Peter Harte
Conor Mc Alisky
Sean Cavanagh
Dan Mc Nulty

Conor Clarke will start and do a man to man on Michael murphy.  Morgan will also start - His free taking will be crucial and he needs to be on song.  Tyrone are up against the wall in a tight corner and this could be closer than we think...!!

Lads I think you will find that Joe McMahon has never been away from the panel and has been training all along..there has been some flexibility with him missing sessions but he has always been part of the squad.

He hasn't been part of the group sessions.  Himself and Dermy Carlin have been training with Peter Donnelly on the side.  Perhaps this running to Garvaghey 5 nights a week is becoming too much for some of the lads involved.

"Quarterback" the point your trying to make about making club football more of a priority is fine but your arguments are absolute nonsense. Playing a game that close is definitely not enough time to be at the level you would want to be at going into an All Ireland series. And no, Tyrone training would absolutely not be as intense on a Tuesday night during the season as a club match would be.. you've no idea what your talking about if you think that's the case.

Anyway, as has been said, I'd be very surprised if any of the u21 county lads that have any aspirations of starting during the week will take part in club football this weekend. It's not a perfect scenario but sure when is it ever guna be, just have to make-do. I for one am just mad looking forward to getting the league up and running.

I don't think that's the case I know that's the case as I can speak from experience.  You choose to ignore the other points I make regarding the organisation lads make for a league game.  With a larger number off lads working away from home flights are usually pre-booked.  Do you have any ideas how this could be sorted or is it just drop everything and fu*k the clubs

Obv ur club has no players involved in the U21 panel as u have no interest in the welbeing of the players, For recovery and to avoid injury then any man wud know that 2 days isn't enuf time but in sayin this I wud expect all players will play for clubs this wkend if they go ahead but still dont think this is right as they wont be 100%.
And I dont think training 2 days later after the Kerry game is the same as an Ulster 21 final and an opening league game..

I would hope/expect that Tyrone training would be MUCH MORE competitive than Tyrone league games - all off a sudden players seem to need so many days recovery after a game.  What ever happened to getting to bed early and getting a good nights sleep.  We need to put an emphasis on our club football.  What about lads that are not getting any football - the subs on the county squads - look at what happened just this week with 4 lads leaving the county panel due to lack of football.  Players confidence is rotting away when they don't play. Also for the average club footballer that make arrangements with work to be off for games yet you feel its ok to pull the plug on games with 3 days notice?... What would you say to clubs who have booked flights for lads working in England months ago??  Most of these U21 lads are at college and are off this week so will not be working or studying hence they will get plenty of rest..!!!

Any story on fixtures this wk,im hearin 6 O'clock on Sat for clubs with U21 involvement? any rumours goin around?
Are the players only guna get there 2 days recovery after a tough fought Ulster final?? Surely this isnt right!!

What is your issue with players 'only' getting 2 days recovery!!  This is more than suffice.  Our senior team played against Kerry in a hard fought game Sunday and were back out training again on Tuesday night.  Is that sufficient recovery?  Club football in Tyrone needs to go ahead - this stop starting fixtures scenario cannot happen this year.

I think its time to introduce a bonus point system to club and county league fixtures.  Say for example if a team scores over a certain amount of points then they get a bonus point like the rugby.  You look at the rugby over the weekend and when the teams had to play and score points it meant for a better game.  The emphasis should be put on scoring - not defending.

Big game for Tyrone today and one where I expect harte to go full out on the defensive..backs are against the wall and I expect us to pack the defence..Tyrone have scoring difficulties and perhaps in moving Mattie Donnelly to the full forward line along with Cavanagh could bear fruit..Tyrone arnt as bad as everyone it making out and I expect a backlash
