Quote from: Rossfan on Today at 11:11:02 AMThe GAA gets how much €s off RTÉ in broadcasting rights?

The figure in last year's annual accounts for media coverage income was €12,845,678.

I couldn't find a breakdown of that figure anywhere so I assume that's the total for all rights for everyone RTE, TG4, BBC, and I presume the likes of GAAGo. I would guess that some money from the likes of Clubber is included in that as well.

Overall revenue for the year was €112 million so all the media rights(not just RTE's contribution was around just 10% of all revenue.

Excellent programme that showed the devastation visited on families during the Troubles.

Is Michelle O'Neill entitled to see the un-redacted versions of those reports?
As head of state, i'd imagine she is?
I doubt she would be able to see it.

Quote from: G@@ on April 21, 2024, 12:48:42 PMFor @Mossy Bruce over on the west coast USA, you can watch the match live on clubber.tv for €12 / $13. They also have an annual pass for €149 which is great value as alot of club matches are shown also.

Thanks, G@@! Unfortunately I forgot to set my alarm (for 5:30 am) to follow the match. AAAARGH! :'(  Anyway, I will check this out for future matches. Thanks, again.

Forgot to mention, the match commentary is in English too!

Quote from: clarshack on April 21, 2024, 05:13:27 PMAnother example of Tyrone being refereed differently again. How can one be a yellow card and the other black?

Did you see the whole incident or just what we seen on the telly?
To be fair the BBC could not find why there was 1 black and 1 yellow appeared bizzarre, a big call that impacted on the game. Do you know why?

I only seen what the telly showed, as did most? My thinking is the the Tyrone man pulled him to the ground and what we seen was the grabbing each about on TV
Is that a black card?

In this case the black card should have been to the cavan player. You see Paudie on his hands and knees with the cavan player standingover him preventing him from getting up. Thats a black card for impending a player. Paudie then struggles to get up and when he does he drags him down.

Both were at it and both deserved a yellow.

It's been clear for a long time that this is just another case of state collusion/involvement in loyalist murders of innocent catholics.
I remember this murder vividly - it spread fear across the GAA community in particular.

A good few years ago the place I worled shit suddenly so signed on for the first time locally. In the office this woman may as well have been working there as she informed everyone of all the benefits.

Another person she knew wandered over to the job bank machine, and asked her how to use it - no clue! Kinda summed it up.

I know there are people who need it and there are plenty who need a lot of support to get back to work, but there are plenty who just aren't arsed and laugh at people heading to work.

The mad thing is in some cases they make it very hard for people who want to get going again and they are better off just going full dole merchant.

I had hopes that GAAGo might encourage/force RTE to up its game.

However given the fact that GAAgo is essentially run by RTE, it's clear that there's little to no chance of this happening.

I think the GAA have given RTE far too much leeway over the years and basically put up with whatever RTE was willing to do. The RTE sports department gets way more out of the GAA that what the GAA get out of RTE.
