General discussion / Re: Death Notices

Quote from: SHEEDY on Today at 01:03:55 PMRIP Shane MacGowan, his music is still one of my first to go to, legend.

Feared the worst when I seen his recent pictures leaving hospital. Legendary songwriter and unique singing voice.
Galway University 0-15 to 0-9 winners. Former Galway underage player James McLoughlin looked good when introduced. Evan Lyons (Sligo county senior player) in defence would be my MOTM
Line ups for tonights Div 1 final.

Quote from: Ghost on November 29, 2023, 07:45:12 PMUtd should have qualification wrapped up with the positions they've found themselves in during this group but instead it's looking like europa league at best. Absolutely criminal not to see that game out tonight.

Onana had looked to have turned things around a bit but those errors tonight are unforgivable. The 2nd choice Turkish lad should be given a chance after that tonight.

To score 9 goals in the 3 away matches and only come away with a point is a bit mad.

The damage was already done in this group with a home defeat to Galatasary and away to Copenhagen both games had to play with 10 men.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on November 29, 2023, 10:21:30 AMVAR official who helped the ref make the decision stood down. Wonder why not the ref ...

There was a few other penalty calls before that one was given and the ref waved play on and didn't bother to view the screen.

PSG grab a draw in added time with a debatable penalty. That draw knocks Newcastle down to 3rd in the table.

Quote from: Saffrongael on November 26, 2023, 09:04:00 PMClarinbridge in Galway ?

It is insane

Football or Hurling?

no football in Clarinbridge

Except Alan Kerins who probably won more at the football than the hurling...

I seen him and his with Salthill-Knocknacarra team mates in a Galway city pub after one of the their championship wins drinking away. Changed times now it seems?
The controversial proposal to remove five counties from the Allianz Hurling Leagues looks set to be shelved.

The Irish Independent reports the plan will be pulled before this weekend's meeting of the GAA's Central Council.

Tammy Lynn Sytch known as Sunny in the WWE in the 90s has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison in connection with a deadly car accident in 2022.  A 75-year-old man was killed in a collision in Florida and she was handed a ten-and-a-half-year sentence for driving with a suspended license and a further seven years for DUI manslaughter.

Quote from: PadraicHenryPearse on November 26, 2023, 11:24:01 AMEmily Hand was released. Haven't seen any comments on how she was treated but the hostages released the previous days were reported to have be treated well.

she survived the hostage taking, and over a month of constant indiscriminate bombing from Israel.

irish ambassador now been called in by Israel for Leo's tweet (taken out of context tweet) to be reprimanded!!!!

Statements from Martin and Leo didn't mention the 8000 plus murdered by Israel or mentioned an extended ceasefire. motions from opposition parties all criticised from not mentioning Hamas but no issue ignoring Israeli crimes when issuing statements themselves.

That's on the tweet now.

Michael Verney has been sending this around without naming the club.

Quote from: clarshack on November 26, 2023, 07:45:25 PMJust checked and yes Cill Ma Martra finished 5th in the Cork 1st Division this year so it seems Cork are copying their neighbours in pulling a fly one.

As the Cavan lads say here.... League doesn't matter.... BS

Wouldn't judge teams too strongly on league form with a lot of players missing for one reason or another.

Cork senior championship contain 12 teams. So not the same as Kerry and hasn't has Cill Ma Martra been playing at the intermediate grade in Cork since 2004?

Quote from: Hound on November 25, 2023, 07:52:58 PMCity going to win this league easy, if they don't get a points deduction.
But it would make some league if they did get the points deduction they deserve. Arsenal and Liverpool would probably be joint favs,  but neither are overly good, so the likes of Spurs, Newcastle, even Villa and United would think they'd have a chance.

I don't think they will win it easily at all. They've lost twice already and we're not even in December yet. Their record against title rivals so far has been poor (W0 D1 L1). They play Spurs next so maybe will pick up a win there.
They just aren't the ruthless juggernaut they used to be.

Weren't last season either, what helped was Arsenal who was top for most of the season fell away badly towards the end of it.

3rd defeat for Tottenham in a row. That's Tottenham out of the top 4 when top recently. Villa now 4th just 2 points off 1st, good season Unai Emery is having with them so far.
