Partition ruined Ulster football. It was trauma. Cavan benefitted.  It is strange that Monaghan didn't. 

Down broke the mould in 1960, probably the most significant All-Ireland final. They paved the way for Derry, Tyrone and Armagh. The current performance levels would have featured pre 1960 if there had been no partition
