Ballinderry are a more seasoned team than Clonoe and have experience in Ulster. Clonoe don't. That counts for a lot. Plus, they have home advantage and an extra week rest.
Someone said Conor Gormley was the problem for Carmen. They were right. He was. The role he played was strange, almost like a quarter back. You couldn't really call him a sweeper as he didn't protect his full back line who were exposed on occasions. Clonoe had their homework don as they knew he would be spare. They hit high and diagonal balls into their inside men, bypassing Gormley. Plus, they marked him on Carmen kickouts.
I thought Carmen were niave and should have marked Colm Doris on Clonoe kickouts as they usually target him and whilst Loughran at 7 was one of their best players, Dorsi was effective aerially. Carmen struggled generally at midfield and i felt they needed Gormley there rather than a sweeper.
In terms of possible County material, McNulty is obviously a contender but he needs to add workrate and awareness to his game. Colm Doris and Stephen McNulty are also good enough but age is a factor. PJ Lavery another; he was very influential coming from deep
I thought Ryan O'Neill no10 also had a massive game for clonoe. Great fielder good distribution and a serious burst of pace
Clonoe have some middle diamond with mcnulty CHB, hagan and O'Neill mf and Dorris hf. Great options for kickouts They then have the choice of high or low into the 2 front men. Credit also to their full back line, Donnelly was kept realatively quiet as well. Impressed with pj lavery, very comfortable going forward and some great interceptions. Great flick on from Dorris from the hop ball for third goal. Thought the lad who had the Carmen goal chance should have taken another solo and took it in closer. Some great catches taken by clonoe in their full back line in the dying minutes

Very strong rumors coming out of Clonoe this morning that Doris got confirmation of his suspension from the county board yesterday and that he will miss the game. That is some loss to Clonoe.
Fancied Carrickmore when I seen them play Cookstown in the championship

I think at least one round should be played early. If this results in some players from beaten teams leaving then so be it. Tyrone seniors and minors are more than likely to be playing in the latter stages of the Championship every year so at least one round needs to be played early to give the winners a chance in the Ulster club. We now have the situation where our senior winners have to travel to Celtic park 7 days after lifting the cup to play the Derry Champions. Not fair on them.

Can I ask what is wrong with being involved with football for 9 months of the year. It is a hobby, and I love it.

believe me we aren't getting carried away with all the hype. We know carmen are where they want to be, under the radar and everyone blowing clonoe up.
Clonoe won't take Carrickmore lightly, never have never will.

The only memory I have of Colm Mcfadden this year is fumbling every single ball that came near him in the ulster final.
Also believe O'connor is the most overated player in Ireland. 2 points from play heading into last years all-ireland final even though he plays Full forward. Only 6 points this year. (Even his goals were a case of a teammate doing all the hard work for him to finish to the empty net, plus 2 penaltys)
Yawn.
O'Connor didn't score 2 penalties this year.
"his goals were a case of a teammate doing all the hard work for him to finish to the empty net". This is just pathetic begrudgery.
You're right. 2 points is mighty scoring for a team playing their games against them tiddily-wink western sides.
Is this just a capitulation or is there a coherent point here somewhere?

Decent game between all the cynical shite. Teams need to take some responsibility to cut this shite out or else the GAA will have their hand forced to bring in ridiculous rules to cut it out.
But we know asking players to do anything for the good of the game is wasted breath. What you wouldn't give for a bit of honour amongst men these days.
