Don't know much about McMahon as a manager but if his efforts at punditry are any reflection of his knowledge of the game he would be hard pressed to get a club underage gig.

Quote from: highorlow on June 13, 2025, 10:19:30 AMIt would be interesting to see what would happen in Hyde if teams were level with 5 mins to go. I reckon Donegal would need to initiate the "ease off" first and play keep ball and then our lads would get the "message" to do the same. If that were to happen both teams would be in for a media slating I'd say, spirit of the game and all that bull.

I reckon it will happen for sure. It may even happen with 10 mins to go.

Hmmmmm that sounds great....until the team in possession hears the hooter......

Quote from: theticklemister on June 07, 2025, 10:56:22 AMHahaha the county board thinking it's all young lads on here giving the grief, in fact it's all Oul boys!!

I'm one of those too
How do you think Derry will actually line out v the Dubs
Lynch
Baker Mc Evoy Mc Gurk
CD     Paudi  Dan Higgins
    Rogers Glass
Mc Faul Cassidy Ethan
Loughlin Mc Guigan Murray

Expect Higgins to be around middle more and Mc Faul around half back. Forbes, Toner, Tommy Rogers to be making an impact off the bench.
Harsh on Toner with my line up but we need more of a scoring threat on the pitch.

Toner was one of our best players the last day, IMO we lost the game when he was taken off.

Hope Derry don't line out like that, Rogers not a good fit at CHB, CD not a midfielder, Think McFaul has too much of a tendency to slow things down when he is playing up front.

FS this is supposed to be a fun thread and some PWs* are on spouting about the cultural impact of pop acts. GAFL.

* P stands for pretentious

Quote from: JoG2 on May 19, 2025, 10:24:28 AMAh lads, no point being cute hoors now.. Sure youse have 30+ starting 15 level players and everyone on here has stated we'll not win a game and finish bottom of the group. This is David v Goliath on a football pitch. I'm going just to get out of the house for the day

No one is TBH, this will be a tight hard match that could go either way. In a way Derry have nothing to lose as they're expected to lose (except within Derry) so they have a free shot and they didn't become a bad team over night...

Eh... yes they did.

Quote from: tyrone08 on April 30, 2025, 02:00:45 PMArmagh/donegal would be better losing and going into group 4.

Would the draw not be better after provincial finals as now finalists can basically decide if they want to win or lose the game to get into an easier group?

That's arrant nonsense, how could it be better going into a group as provincial losers to take on Connacht provincial winners, Dublin and Derry than playing as Ulster winners against Connacht losers, Tyrone and Cavan .

Really missing Whitey on this thread.

Would be interesting to see an analysis of the games so far and see if there would have been any different results without the 2 pointers.

No, I'm too lazy to do it.

Well the GAA will just have to suck it up.

Our forwards were to blame?????

We gave away three goals ffs, none of which were on a break from a turnover, allowing men to waltz through our defence at their leisure and pick their spot.

It's not the first time I have said this on here, but McErlean's teams have always been poorly set up to prevent goals and have relied on individual brilliance rather than building smart defensive systems. Against higher quality teams the former will get found out and this has been shown to happen again and again.

And speaking of our forwards, we were stymied by Tyrone because we continued to play the same way without any variation, which made us easy to defend against. Not only last night but in every game we have played this year [that I've seen] we have played exactly the same style of football, I cant recall a single example of us kicking a ball long to the forward line, this lack of variation made it much easier for Tyrone to set up to defend against us.

Must say I find Faldo hilarious, guy's obviously a bit of a fruit cake but some of the things he says are priceless.

What McStay said was that Clifford when fouled is making the picture look good to the referee. Aidan O'Shea is the antithesis of that.

Can't say I much liked Clifford's antics on Sunday. Still more likeable than Paudie, though that's not a high bar lol.

"Davide Oneglia of TS Lombard points out that the effect on some of the smaller and more open European economies could be profound. Ireland in particular is dependent on pharma exports. By Oneglia's calculations, 25% US tariffs on all imports could cut Irish gross domestic product by 3.74%"

Am I reading that right, it's saying at c.4% of the Irish economy is comprised of pharmacy exports to USA, surely that can't be accurate.

Quote from: Keyser soze on February 28, 2025, 12:51:18 PMThe Trump years are going to be the end of the hegemony of the USA as the self-styled 'leaders of the free world'.

At this stage it is only 'whiteys' that truly believe this, and a decreasing number of them at that. Most of the world never believed it, but now that there are means by which their shenanigans can be truly exposed an increasing number realise how malevolent their 'policing' has really been.

His madcap approach to trade and tariffs will only serve to strengthen BRICS and weaken the dollar as the go to currency.

Whilst this can only be a good thing in the long run, unfortunately a lot of poor people, in the USA and around the world, are going to suffer a lot of severe consequences whilst this transition is taking place, and there is every likelihood that there will be future major conflict before order is restored.

I feel that there is a distinct possibility that the USA will cease to be united at some point in the not too distant future, I just cannot see how you could have a rapprochement between MAGA people and democrats [and I have used a small d advisedly] and therefore a schism is an inevitablity.

Eh....you have misjudged my perspective

This country is completely fvcked

We're paying more in interest on our debt than we spend on the military (and that's saying something)

We let 10 M people enter the country illegally over the past 4 years

We have major cities where huge percentages of the population live in abject poverty with no hope of improving their station in life

There's a crisis in healthcare

Kids in school can't hardly read, write or do basic math

I'd say the top half of the population will be okay, but the bottom half and especially the bottom quartile are drifting further and further behind

I didn't mean you personally, hence no capitalisation, but westerners, who are generally white. Might well include you though  8)
