Volunteerism is dying!

So much governance and treating clubs like businesses and parents like customers....time is our most precious commodity...people don't want to give it up for free....

Kildare

Hope: Retain Div 1 status, reach Leinster Senior Final and AI Semi-final! U20s to win Leinster and reach AI final!

Expectation: Relegation from Div 1 on 5 points, lose Leinster semi-final to Dublin after extra-time, reach AI quarter-finals though! 20s lose Leinster final to Meath!

Hurlers to win Christy Ring again (Hurling team of the year to watch).

Rumours of a Laythrum announcement this evening.
That's some line up for Kildare.....but good players don't always make good managers..

Glenn is a good manager - Leinster u21, Division 3 and 4 with Longord. Intermediate with Towers and has kept them senior with a poor crop of players, maximised their talent.
Rainbow won a Dublin SFC and a Leinster SFC with Ballyboden.
Johnny Doyle is making great strides revamping Maynooth's Sigerson credentials.
Brian Lacey is a top class performance analyst and was in the Tipp background team when they got to an AISF.

Exciting times for Kildare! Makes a change.

No shock! Hope Meath make a dent in the AI series. Meath Kildare Offaly and to a lesser Wicklow, Westmeath and Louth make big improvements underage. The elephant will always be there though at senior level.

But no other sport I know of tries to introduce competition by handicapping the best team...

No other sport heavily funds one of it richer members?

No other sport gives all important home games to to one of it's members?

The GAA is not like any other sport.

The IRFU fund Leinster more than their other franchises, so thats not even unique in Dublin.

Linfield used to play their derbies v Cliftonville at home plus cup finals, so not unique to Ireland.

Its the antithesis of sport to try and pull in a winning side by handicapping as opposed to raising your own game. Inter, Lille and the new Rangers didn't whine about Juve, PSG and Celtic winning with huge material advantages. They got on with it and got their rewards.

The IRFU don't.

Of course they do. Do you think Connaught have the same wage bill as Leinster?

I don't think you have a clue how IRFU funding works.
So Connaught do have the same budget as Leinster?

Connaught? Says it all.

Meh! Kildare were competitive enough. Accuracy was not where it needs be but with Division 1 football next season Feeley, Doyle and Cribben to return I am optimistic that we can close the gap as Dublin will transition for a year or two before kicking on. The mad Flynn brothers were class, Dan best player on the pitch and Luke marked Fenton out of the game. A decent year. Everyone was expecting a trimming so confidence maintained. Only 2 goals conceded all year.

Dublin v Kildare was error ridden. Really poor quality, Kildare's basic execution was terrible. Dublin should have won by more but could have lost too. If Meath are anyway decent  they should win.
