General discussion / Re: The IRISH RUGBY thread
May 05, 2024, 07:48:12 AM
No doubt there is a supposed popularity of rugby in terms of attendance compared to big GAA patches however would many attendees yesterday be formally linked to clubs?  Ulster final tickets this year are being distributed solely via clubs, if IRFU adopted this for a big rugby patch they would have a substantial amount left over.

When it comes to Armagh matches would the worst of the offenders in terms of the drunken louts be from a certain part of the County (near the M1)?  Previous experience would lead me to believe this is the case but I am happy to be proven wrong.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 28, 2024, 09:34:57 AMThat is a fantastic result. The Dublin game will be very interesting now.

On another note how many goals did Joe McLaughlin score against ballygalget? I saw on cushendall twitter some updates and it just seemed to be Joe McLaughlin goal repeatedly.

Is he still on the county panel?

Fair play to them, that is some turnaround in 6 days bearing in mind the tanking they got last week.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 26, 2024, 03:21:52 PMBernie Sanders has a pretty strongly worded video against Israel there which is great to see. Also he's a jew which is helpful here. (It shouldn't need to be but the misuse of the anti-semitism card means it is)

To say the Israelis play the anti-semitism card all to often is an understatement.

Certainly a tragedy with an attempted coverup, but collusion in the North went much further than that.

British State forces actively provided Loyalists with the intel, support and equipment to carry these murders out and then did everything to prevent a proper investigation then and indeed ever since.

They also allowed stakeknife (as their agent) to torture and kill plenty, crazy place and how that system was continually allowed to operate was unbelievable

If someone made a film about it, it would go straight into the fiction department

Shinners just as motivated as the British Government to make sure the full truth about Stakeknife never sees the light of day.

Quote from: Tones on April 23, 2024, 09:46:23 AMA friend of mind works dealing with benefit claims, she does England mostly, she says it's amazing how rude these folk are, how clued in they are, how persistent they are, how confrontational they are, she says when she clearly identifies fraud and passes it to her line manager more than not it is ignored - no wonder the country if fucked!

I've said before, these people work dam hard at not working, the levels of understanding the benefit system is way above the actual people working in it

I remember being at a garage on the Shankill years ago, guy was filling up his rather new BMW, he was chatting away to a fella in the shop telling him he was heading to the dole who were interviewing him for the DLA renewal.

He was basically covered in shit, clothes were hanging on him and he smelt of booze, told him that it works every time and they never keep more than 5 minutes due to the smell.

This isn't taking away from multi national companies not paying full tax btw  ;)

No fan of them but at least they contribute something in terms of jobs etc.  Your man in the Shankhill along with many other similar people in the supposed 'working class areas' contribute sweet FA.  It is people like this who clog up the NHS as well.

The thing that stands out for me;

Northern Ireland now has the "tightest labour market of any of the 12 UK regions".

In part that is because it has the lowest percentage of the economically inactive stating they want to work.

A lot of people happy to lie on their asses all day and claim their benefits.

No fan of the Conservatives by any stretch but something like this is badly needed.

A lot of people absolutely milking the system and the rest of us is paying for it.

Not hard to know what side of the community the current Education Minister is from.

That being said if it had been 4 CCMS schools scheduled for closure and it was a new SF Education minister they would do exactly the same.

Not hard to know there are elections around the corner.

Just about sums up NI (parish) politics.

Have to feel for the farmers at the minute whether it be trying to plant potatoes of those trying to lamb sheep.

A concerning fact when it is stating as less than 50 acres of the usual 21,000 acres have actually been planted so far.

No doubt we will see this in food prices later on in the year.

Quote from: marty34 on April 07, 2024, 08:58:26 AMI love the seeing a pitch covered at half-time with young and old, fathers and mothers with their kids etc. pucking and kicking a ball about. No issues.

A great sight.

Conversely, I've seen kids being hunted off pitches i.e. Athletic Grounds at inter-county club championship games by 'jobworths' and it's only 2 or 3 kids looking to kick or puck about, not 500 children.

A joke.

Full time pitch invasions, few and far between these days however one that stands out was when Limerick won the Munster Championship a few years ago.

Quote from: From the Bunker on April 06, 2024, 12:01:20 PMJust watched Brolly and MDMA on Youtube.

12 minutes of an interview. Interview dominated by Brolly, All bar a couple of seconds given to MDMA.

Told a couple of stories about MDMA - With MDMA giving him the That's not what really happened Stare.

Then there was the touchy feely stuff during all of this with Brolly. MDMA a guest who ended up an audience member. You can see at the end MDMA is anxious to get the f*** out of there. Cringe!

What was the  point of that opening bit ? John Finucane, Fergal Mc Custer etc.  Same with  going to a Trinity with Gilroy? Why was  any of that relevant?

And I noticed  he still does the  arm across thing, when MDMA  contributed something  . Basically, shut up, I'm talking.

I was thinking exactly the same.

Quote from: lurganblue on March 29, 2024, 04:59:01 PMRoadhouse. I've never seen the original so I lack nostalgia. This is about a 3/10. But every scene with mcgregor lowers the score. Hopefully that is his 1st and last film.

The original, I think, is very good. I don't know whose idea it was to put Conor mcgregor in this but it was a very bad one. The guy is a muppet.
It wasn't really a stretch for him. "Okay Connor in this scene I need you to act liked a swaggering coked up moron."

Both points are bang on, McGregor is a complete nob.

Setting that aside Jake Gyllenhall was in some nick.
