thought Derry should have brought a forward on quicker at the weekend especially with second half breeze. didn't use tohill inside at all.

Derry have 5-6 weeks now to the AI stage.

Have we anyone from the development panel (or outside it) who could come in and bolster the squad number wise to help us cope with these injuries both in defence and attack.

Hoping someone who watches a lot of club football can comment as I really only watch my own club in intermediate.

with Tohill out that likely means Rodgers (if fit ) will play midfield v Donegal. would like to have seen him in full back and McEvoy in 6 with mcgrogan moving to half back. would many agree with this?

Quote from: Estimator on March 18, 2025, 11:02:41 AMI think that Lynch's quad is gone and we won't see him this season - so that's 3 out completely (McCloskey, McKinless and Lynch). Another goalkeeper is required, and one that is ready to be thrown straight in at the start of the Championship.

I think we'll play Armagh with an even weaker side again next week. It makes sense to rest the likes of Glass, McGuigan, the Dohertys and McEvoy. Given Tally's comments after the game, the wider panel might be given a run out.

Terrible news.
We effectively don't have a keeper if this is the case. I'd go looking for Scullion to see if he can be brought in - no idea why he's not on the panel I think I remember seeing something about him coaching u20s?

It would be sensible to protect players now and use the Armagh game to have a look at an alternative keeper and some of these Dev Squad players - especially as this is a dead rubber match.
I should say, I thought Glass put in a serious shift against Mayo - he hit some top class scores. God help us if he picks up an injury at this stage.

i would agree. no point risking a glass or a McGuigan now. good to see Kevin Quinn on the bench, assuming he played v Tyrone last weekend? also seen paddy quigg beside him on the bench. do we know if clubs sent they're players forward or these players were selected by the Management?

Quote from: THEALBION1878 on March 13, 2025, 02:40:11 PMwill we have McEvoy for the weekend? Both him & Rodgers would be massive losses to our defence.

Don't think we'll see Rodgers until the championship.
Also understand Gilmore had a setback at during the week, sounds like his season is over unfortunately.

unfortunate. the injuries' weve acquired in recent weeks is a clear sign we should of brought more defensive minded players on board. i know you cant predict injuries but surely we could of been better prepared?

Who player wise and how do you think Tally and Co could have prepared better?

Not Blaming Tally in this situation. he was put in late and was probably advised in regards to our county championship by the people with him. I'm simply saying surely there is 2 or 3 defenders in the county could of been brought on board in preparation for this scenario. maybe someone else can suggest names? hopefully this development squad can help with this!

you've named some talented players there however I still feel we require 1 0r 2 solid man markers to add to the panel. not sure if you would agree with me or not. hopefully someone on here watched the games and can name a few!

yes, a definite need to bolster this area. not too sure who you add? (good thing I'm not involved lol).

Quote from: shamrocker12 on November 04, 2024, 09:46:12 AMEntering week 18 since Mickey Harte stepped down as manager, now into Novemeber with most counties already having selected panels for next season and S&C programmes probably already started and Derry still have not appointed anyone. The rumour is the Co. Board already have their man selected and that man is currently still involved with a club. So let's try narrow that down as we are now into provincial championship and narrows the field. 1. LACEY (publicly said he hasn't been approached)
2. Enda mcginley (has supposedly said not interested) 3. Ronan devlin (publicly said not approached) 4. Declan bonner (please god no) 5. Ruairi lavery clann eirean 6. Ryan daly crosserlough 7. David mckeague scotstown  Is there anyone else out there ?? Unless lacey is calling a bluff

Can only hope Derry have something sorted at this stage surely? Teams beginning to train soon and panels being put in place. if it is a club manager and he goes deep into ulster/All Ireland phase how long are we really willing to wait to announce this?
