Yeah McShane U-20 manager and there are trials on at the minute. Still no minor management in place yet, a few have been asked apparently and no takers yet - which isn't ideal
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Sure whoever takes it has to go through the GAA boards approval first before being rubber stamped  ;)

Who have they looked after before, what's their back room team, have they any kids involved, the usuals

There was kind of a big deal made of last year's appointment. I wasn't expecting it to be done in 1 year*.

* Regardless of the year they had.

Not that it matters, if we're ultimately honest.

Was there? Social media has a lot to answer for

Carey up against a serious outfit

That team today had seven more Cork senior hurling champions than the team Slaughtneil played in the senior semi final.

I do think Antrim should give consideration to regional teams in our senior championship.

They tried it and there wasn't much buy in (although groups etc may be more suitable)

Milltown Row2

Regional teams don't work in Antrim and they aren't allowed to progress into provincial series either.

Too many mediocre hurling teams in Belfast at the minute. The Belfast team was tried but it was a gather up, with no real identity that they have in the likes of Kerry

North Antrim hurling could put a strong outfit together and if they were exposed to senior level the best in those teams could help Antrim too.

I'm nearly sure they did at the time, mixture of junior and intermediate teams

There was north, south west and south in it. I am not even sure it lasted longer than a year.

In theory it sounds great but I think it's difficult logistically with the scheduling of matches and I would imagine the scheduling of training would be worse. It would need a lot of thought.

Milltown Row2

Dual players too, players still involved with club championships and so on

If a county like Cork can make it work I'm not really taking scheduling as an excuse.

Saffron71

Aside from scheduling.  I would put it down to buy in from players.  In cork it's been historically part of their championship that regional sides take part and there seems to be alot of pride in representing their region.  Up here it would be a case of "F**k this,  my club has a good chance of winning intermediate, I'll not bother with that regional team.
I'm not gonna bother playing along with my intermediate rivals." Plus club managers will portray that narrative to their players too.

Regional sides happened before - load of nonsense.
