Quote from: Wildweasel74 on January 20, 2025, 10:38:36 AMNaas weren't the only team who had Gallagher on the radar! I think the Gallagher situation is done and dusted. But we see what Burns does when another situation arises in the GAA at county level. I was happy Burns got the job after the last lad, but it's beginning to look like it's all about me, and a run at Ireland President down the line. In my own county McFaul can count himself a lucky boy. A Gillane too, but if we starting taking every incident outside the gaa, where there no conviction, where do u stop? Is there anybody within clubs training children with convictions of assault, drugs, accusations of domestic. Violence,i say there is.

Is that not what Access NI is for ?

Girl who ran into bus shelter glass panel settles case for €86,000

Irish Examiner

A young girl who claimed she sustained a gash on her forehead when she struck the glass side of a bus shelter at a shopping centre has settled her High Court action for €86,000.

Victoria Wisniewska was running to a friend's car at the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Dublin, when it is claimed she struck the glass panel and fell back to the ground.

The girl's barrister, Conor Kearney BL, told the High Court she has been left with a nasty scar on her forehead as a result of the incident two years ago.
He said she had been to the cinema to see the Barbie movie with a friend. It was dark and raining when they came out of the centre and they ran to get in the car.

Victoria Wisniewska (aged 14) of Maynooth, Co Kildare, had through her father Wojciech Wisniewski sued Liffey Valley Management Ltd. The settlement, which includes €82,000 in general damages and the rest in special damages, was recommended by the Injuries Resolution Board.

The settlement is without an admission of liability.

In an affidavit to the court, Victoria's father, Wojciech Wisniewski, said his daughter was on August 13. 2023, running towards her friend's mother's car and ran into the glass side of the bus shelter. He claimed she was unable to see this as there was allegedly no lighting and it was allegedly not evident that there was a glass panel in her path.

All of the claims are denied by Liffey Valley Management Ltd.

Victoria was brought to hospital where the cut was cleaned and closed with glue and steri strips and she was prescribed antibiotics. Mr Wisniewski said she was discharged home and is now left with a 5cm scar on her forehead.
The gash is well healed but she may require revision surgery when she is older. Mr Wisniewski said he was happy with the assessment by the Injuries Resolution Board.

Approving the settlement Ms Justice Nuala Jackson who examined the scar said the incident had been upsetting for all involved.

Quote from: Saffrongael on January 14, 2025, 11:55:28 AMDidn't Martin Fogarty resign from the hurling development committee in protest at the application process?

Maher was also on the hurling development committee, which is a bit bizarre that thats where the successful applicant came from.

Is he not gone 3 years now?

Yeah he's gone from that role but he was a member of the newly formed Hurling Development Committee, that Maher is also on

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 13, 2025, 09:58:28 PMWatched a quite disturbing documentary called The Killing of America. Made in 1981 so only dealt with how American changed through gun violence and murder.

It's pretty graphic in places so not for the weak stomach ones.

But the brutality of it, even for then is really hard to get your head around.

Is that the one on Prime ?

Would there not have been an available pitch closer to Belfast?

I just can't imagine any pitches are playable with this weeks weather

Quote from: Slemishgael on January 06, 2025, 12:20:31 PMDoes anyone know if the county hurlers have any challenge games arranged before the league starts? Seen Cork and Waterford played at the weekend and I heard Galway played Kildare in the football. A few challenge games cancelled over the weekend also. Out of interest if challenge games are organised why are these seldom if ever advertised on the county twitter page or the county website? I know not everyone wants to go to these games but other folk would like to

They played Meath at the weekend & are due to play Limerick this Friday I believe.

Quote from: Saffrongael on January 02, 2025, 11:31:16 AMTalk of Glenariffe and Cushendall amalgamating at U-16 this year, they already are at U-12 & U-14. Glenravel going it alone maybe ? Not 100% certain but that's what I heard

That's incorrect. Glenravel and Glenariffe are still amalgamated at u16 and minor. Cushendall may be joining as well but nothings changed as far as Glenravel and Glenariffe are concerned.

I don't know the players but will this end up a Glenariffe/Cushendall team and Glenravel players struggling to get playing time ? Do Glenravel have the players at U-16 to go it alone ?

There was a Glenariffe/Glenravel B minor team last couple of years, I'm not sure they played more than a couple of games this year. Maybe the appetite wasn't there I don't know, but there were 17 subs named the other day. Looks like plenty of players sitting idle, other than training.
