The dubs brought on 3 subs after half time which really swung the balance.
Laois unlucky to be 5 points down at HT.

Also none of The Harps or Camross lads with the exception of young mortimor played. Albeit most of The harps lads go to kilkenny schools.

In saying that i think the county board are missing a real trick here. Post primary school is massive in the development of any county minor, u 20 hurling teams. Look at the way Offaly have approached it in the last few years.
I firmly believe with the proper buy in Laois could be competing with the likes of St Kierans, kilkenny CBS and whoever for a Leinster title.
Imagine the knock on effect of that.
Offaly done it last year, why not us. so Laois schools participation should be a vital part of development plans going forward.

I think CB's main issue was, in the first half, playing against the wind and rain forced them into a hand passing, possession game that they were not comfortable playing. As soon as the storm died down at half time, it worked in NF favour as they just sat that bit deeper, knowing CB couldn't launch points form distance like they had done in the first half and eventually wore them down.

I was impressed with NF, the conditions and pitch were pretty atrocious by the end, but they still kept their sharpness. They have some serious pace up front, and will take some stopping on a dry, wide open sod of Croke Park if they get there. Which I think they will.

Agree very much about our secondary schools,
It should be a huge focus now with development squads

Quote from: Blueforever on November 18, 2024, 06:08:49 PMWatched C Ballacolla on Sunday when match was over turned over to see end of Munster club semi final it was like watching two different sports first touch and speed and skill of the Munster match was a joy to behold . C Ballacolla were well ahead of rest of clubs in Laois so we have a fair idea of standard of hurling in the county and gap is just getting wider ...
Thomastown, the Kilkenny champions lost to Westmeath's Castletown-Geoghegan by 11pts on the same day. How would CB have fared against either of those teams? I don't think the gap is as massive as you suggest.

Laois Rising

The Combined Schools will need time to bed in and having players properly coached and trained from 1st year right through to 5th and 6th year. Designated coaches, coaching time and proper player development and team building over an established number of years. If this is implemented, it is only then that we will see the positive results of having a combined team and the positive impact on the county underage set ups. If it ends up only being a thing where lads are pulled together for some splash and dash coaching and throwing a team together for games then its not going to achieve a huge amount. If anything it could have a negative impact if our combined teams start taking bad beatings.

Spiritof1915

Disappointing 2nd half the difference for borris/kilcotton today after putting themselves in a good position at half time.

Despite the conditions the 1st half was a fabulous spectacle of hurling from both teams.
I imagine that BK will be wondering what could of been.

Lisdowneys younger legs was the winning of it in the end.

Any update on any new club managers for 2025?

Andy Kearns OLG to Harps

Laois man

Did Andy Kearns hurl full back for OLG years ago. I believe all apart from Rdowney /Errill will have new mangerment in the senior Cship next year.

Ballacolla, Camross & Abbeyleix hardly need to change?

Laois man

Need or not there all changing.

Ballygowen

Not sure about Abbeyleix, but Camross and Clough Ballacolla are changing managers, reasons why I don't know.

Galtee1

Interesting for Ballacolla to be changing after 1 year and a county final win.
I wonder is W.Hyland on the Laois ticket?

Baby No.5 is expected to arrive to the Hyland household in January!!!! So time to fully commit is limited.

No change in RE I'm hearing. Beaten semi-finalists in each of 2021,2022, 2023 - getting to the final and being 4 up at half time was definitely progress. But fell away badly in the second half. Will be hoping to go one better.

Will Laois camogie or hurling be benefitting from the first 4?
