His brother in law did not apply though did he, he is apart of the management team , which may or may not have anything to do with the re-appointment i don't know, but i am all for giving people a chance. One year is hard to gauge it on to be fair , its not the premier league where you have people in the waiting for a well paid job. i would say 2 years maybe even 3 then slate all you want if its been poor or regressive. You could have 7/8 really strong players gone from next years team and what replaces them not near the same quality & results bound to be different . We don't have the same conveyor belt other counties have
Damien Carter spent time with the minors before he became manager as far as i am aware also, hence perhaps why he left after 1 year as manager, he had 2/3 years overall done with them , i was asking is it ok to push this management team up to 19s but do not have them over the Minors ?
100% strive to produce a good minor team. I agree and am all for the best set-ups & available resources to aid improvement and progression for the underage players but it is not realistic with the county board we are dealing with to the best of my knowledge. Good quality Schools & Club Level is important at Grassroots i feel to prepare the young fellas for the county team environment. How many Laois Schools are hurling A Tier Competitions or strongly competing B ?? Yet when they put on the Laois Jersey there is higher expectations
Players going into County set-ups that may be strong for their club may be well off it county standard. The depth in quality is not always there, Yet we blame the managements. It is up to the management to uphold the standards there & improve to a degree yes, but it doesn't always happen across the board underage / senior

Yes I agree with your views/issues with delevoping Laois hurling..from what I was told Shane chaired the review committee his brother in law was part of the review and then he applied for the position. Shane also then held interviews after . As we know Laois gaa seems to have issues with doing things correctly . In any other facade of life this couldn't be allowed to happen.

As for my comment about leaving them with the u19 there is 27 players( last year's minor panel) not eligible to play minor this year as they now move on to u19 surely last year management group have experience knowledge ect with this group ??  Who do we expect to now manage this group?

Butch Cassidy

How are the underage footballers going?

Anywhere to find squad listing, be interested to know what clubs are represented and also who is over them?

I genuinely do not know who would even go for the 19s job or who to suggest, was just commenting the u19s are every bit as important as the Minors. So if you think it was bad move reinstating them to Minor Level how do you justify throwing them in with the u19s. Somebody on that 19s that may not make the squad now but could hurl senior in a few years & i do agree with you, Coaches are vital & proper genuine coaches too. Some things take time though i believe & sometimes there is never that proper progress or results we want to see.
Seen it from 90s though when Laois had somebody good involved they shafted them. Always one step forward and two steps backwards.  We all want the same outcome & may have different views, sometimes people have agendas though which sways the trail of thinking. How many good hurling men are even on the County Board now ??
