Laois / Minor Football Championship 2024
July 24, 2024, 02:46:59 PM
The minor championship is very close this year after 3 games. Portlaoise seem to be struggling a bit.

Port, O'Dempsey's and Na Fianna Og on 4 points at the top of the table with only 2 points separating all 8 teams.

Shaping up to being a very competitive championship.

Is the minor final still on the same day as the Senior county final?

Laois / Laois senior football memories
March 23, 2020, 12:45:42 PM
With the lack of games to be discussing I thought we could delve into the past and talk about games in times past.

1 - Best memory supporting the footballers
2 - Favourite match
3 - Favourite player pre 2000, post 2000 (for the older lads)
4 - Best score/favourite
5 - Best individual display in a match
6 - Match with best atmosphere
7 - Most impressive victory
8 - Favourite county ground
9- Most disappointing memory ( you can rank them)
10 - Worst refereeing decision against us

If more than 1 in a category then list 1,2,3 in order of preference.

If you have anything to add to it fire away

Laois / Pat Critchley - Living legend
January 24, 2020, 09:51:34 AM
Was looking for the colleges gaa thread but in fairness in needs a thread of its own.

What an achievement by Pat with IT Carlow on top of the basketball. He is a living legend and we should be very proud to have him. His achievements as both a player and manager are second to none in the county. He has done immense work for gaa in Laois. The man should have a street named after him in Portlaoise or a statue in the square. He would probably hate it being the humble man that he is. He must be the greatest sporting person to come from Laois.

Hurling Discussion / Provincial club championship
October 23, 2019, 12:26:21 PM
Rathdowney/Errill play St Rynaghs in a couple of weeks. The Rathdowney players spoke about their desire to do well in the competition in the interviews after winning the county final on Sunday. Laois clubs have a poor record in the competition over the past few years failing to win first round games. Winners of this game will play winners of St Mullins v Cuala.
KK and Wex winners yet to be decided.

Great to see Laois in Tier 1. Have they the ability to stay there as I assume there is some form of relegation/promotion?

This will be very important for the county going forward. The last review covered 2009 to 2015 however we are in a very different place now than we were in 2009.

Now is the time to speak with the people involved so voices are heard and subjects debated.

Just getting an idea as to who will be travelling where on Saturday. A difficult day for 'dual' supporters.

I will be in Parnell Park Saturday evening but won't be at the football earlier in the day.

Laois / Laois GAA website
July 19, 2016, 12:12:20 PM
The website still has team news for the Armagh game in their main news section. Despite having county fixtures and results section there is nothing there.
Over the weekend their were developement squads in action with not a word anywhere. Over the last few weeks we had the celtic cup hurling and again no coverage at all on the website.
How difficult would it be for someone to gather the data and info from respective managers, coaches or reporters if they were there and put the info on the site.
The website is almost a mirror for the interest in LAoois GAA at the moment. You would get more info about Laois teams from other county sites.
It reflects badly on the county board and surely it would benefit the younger players to be able to see some photos or reports from their games.
A very poor effort by whoever is in charge of it. We are so far down the technology road at this stage and we cannot update our official website.

Laois / 2015 Laois Senior Football
February 13, 2015, 12:57:59 PM
Break for the football for a couple of weeks and the next game is crucial if Laois are to have any hope of avoiding relegation.
