Credit where it is due. He has shown real leadership at times and is one of the very, very few in these islands to do so.

"She knows my history. She knows I was a member of the IRA. She knows I was in conflict with her soldiers, yet both of us were prepared to rise above all of that."

Lol, im not sure about that at all. What has he done to show ''real leadership''? The whole saga with Lizzy and himself is a bit comical imo, during the presidential campaign, he was like an excited school child about the prospect, he showed an aspect of thinking he was some kind of Irish Mandella , his sense of importance was way off.  I suspect he has being a tout all along, he could be J118 even.

How long has he beinf talking to the brits? How long has he being sending oglach to the gaol or their death? Does it all add up ? Where was there opposition to the GFA within the provo movement? Were members of the ETB sent to their deaths because of the strong say they had within the movement and they opposed the stepping down of militant resistance ?

I spoke to Ricky o Rawe a few years ago at a talk in wynns hotel, it opened my eyes to the provisional movement, there is a very black cynical side to things on history from the troubles , it certainly lost my faith in a lot of stuff i would of supported but in saying that in the crazy political world we live in id still vote SF in the 26 as i see them as the only hope for the working class struggle.

The provos were defeated by the Birts , history will see to it that it will be proven the GFA sealed the deal on the Irish question, unification will never be achieved now. Normalisation in the 6 has been achieved , nobody will ever rock that. sin e.
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

On the one hand you say the provos were defeated by the Brits, on the other hand you say SF are the only hope in the 26 for the working class struggle.

Hmmm.

Oh and real leadership is not pandering to your own supporters' every whim, it is having the balls and honesty to tell them what they don't want to hear.

Nelson Mandela wearing the Springbok jersey is an iconic representation of that. His followers couldn't believe it. To many of them it was a betrayal.

I hope you got outrageously drunk and forgot everything orawe told you.
You could make up the stories yourself then.
He did just that ( for most of the tales he was telling)

Your take on the north and 'victory! /'defeat' is intriguing !
Which category does deaths or indeed ruined lives get filed under ?

There is a difference cara. Republican objectives were surrendered imo , the time was right to end militant republicanism but the GFA was not  a winner for republicanism , it was a compromise for republicanism and also a compromise of republican principals. Fawning to lizzy and stuff like that is not even republican in the worldly sense , a republican should oppose monarchy .

Voting for Sf in the 26 has nowt to do with Irish republicanism really , it is a new model really and a good one at that but i cant stress it enough it has very little to do with unification or even socialism tbh. Its just the best of a bad lot really .

Yes of course, just like the Dark, Joe o Neill, Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, the price sisters (RIP Dolours) , former blanket men like Dixie Elliot, etc etc, theyre all mad, theyre all liars, some are drunks, some are just there to make money off books ..blah blah i have heard it all and listened to all sides. Of course there is some truth to the dishonesty claims by both sides of the fence but its best to keep an open mind and form your own opinion in time. Im not 100% that Ricky is telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth but i can prove backtracking by Morrison.

SF's left model is a well worn fob to their voters and no more. Look at their policies in the North. Now that they are in power there, which is a good thing obviously, they don't look very left wing anymore. McGuinness deserves credit for that dose of realism imho.

Down south under Adams, and in opposition, the politics look different at the moment. They promise the usual guff of giving everything and getting someone else to pay for it. This is the equivalent of the FF style of borrowing from the future to deliver whatever their supporters want today. Neither is anything but unsustainable populism. It always comes crashing down. But the people get what they deserve.

If you saw his ALS Ice bucket challenge then you will have seen the obvious nod to his handlers.
