FBD retained, good attitude and organisation in defence by our boys, took no crap from Galway who had a lot of wides .
Hopefully now that we have someone managing and organising  the team the 4-24 days are over.

However it's only th'oul FBD and will be forgotten about by 7.15 next Saturday when the real League starts.
Galway probably have their eyes and focus set on July and August whereas we have to take it one day at a time.
Hope the lads listen back to the RTÉ radio panel today who have us hot favourites for relegation.

If either team lose next sat that team will be hit favorite for relegation.

Definitely so,would be a tad worried about galway after today's performance, maybe enough credit is not been given to roscommon and the way they defended and tackled in swarms. They were way sharper especially in the first half.Newly promoted teams always have a little extra done and this is why galway and mayo should be on guard next weekend.looking forward to it though.
"newly promoted teams have a little extra done" Galway started back in mid October, Roscommons first get together under Cunningham was not until the first weekend of December.
Well if that is true we are truly fecked on the 16th march !!😁

Shane Walsh of Galway gave his views on the new rules talking to rte
"The hand pass rule seems just a bit daft with three. You've gone from a record number of hand passes in a game to three hand passes consecutively. I think that's a bit of an extreme jump.

"If the ball can be moved forward quickly, move it forward quickly It's not a case of we have to count this hand-pass and use the three and then kick. Just play the game as you see it.

"If the attacking mark goes through, you will look to play to players' strengths.

"You're probably going to see a few big lads you've never seen before play football inside in the full-forward line. I think it brings a bit of excitement – you're showing the art of catching and kicking, which is a huge part of what Gaelic football  is about.

"So I think that would be huge if they implement that one. But does it slow up the game? Will teams use the time advantage to kill off games? It's 15 seconds, that's probably something that trial and error will work out. I don't know. For us, having the likes of Damo [Comer] inside, it would be something you'd like to use." :)
I notice he didn't mention the sin bin this has to be a must one of the more positive proposals"

.
I too would be a supporter of the forward mark,Michael Murphy,Aidan o shea in around the forward line, soaring for high ball.it did not work too well for Jason Doherty's in the fbd last Sunday, he caught a high ball was in on goal but was called back for a mark.it can be tweaked though.

I can see rochford taking a year out from management, possibly return to corofin to get another all ireland club title and then do a john o Mahoney and bring the holy grail back to Galway, now that would be the ultimate up yours to the mayo county board!!😁

Galway beaten fair and square, dubs are not going to be beaten by Monahan or Tyrone but I do expect the final to be a closer affair than sat semi final.
i listened to mayo fans in wards hotel salthill earlier
"oh mayo could get within a point of the dubs"
They could, did it make defeat "easier"!
Anyway my own theory is Galway looked a tired team, they have exceeded expectations in all fairness.
We have been reading as far back as feb the serious training Galway put in for the league and it showed with a league final showing running the dubs to 4Pts.
This over trained league team then went on to win the connacht championship.
Qualify for super 8s and reach a semi final all progress.
We are still short a centre back of calibre but the experience gained from this year's run is immeasurable.
Hopefully not as much effort needed to remain in div 1 next year and time our run like mayo in previous years to maybe get within a point of the dubs!!😁

Was looking back at last year's final Jesus after such a bad start, mayo fairly came back at them I know mayo came up short but really showed when the press is on they are prone to mistakes like any other.Galway half back line nowhere as good as mayo so whether they can create the chances like mayo did remains to be seen.Galway have Been using the high press second half v ross and second half v kerry and "depress" v monaghan.im hoping it will be as tight as league final but would still have the dubs ahead by 5pts at the finish.
