General discussion / Re: Falling Ash

I am not an expert of the sky but there have been things happening lately that wouldn't surprise me if we wake up some morning and an earthquake or volcano has ripped through the centre or sides of Ireland. Last week I was in bed and the whole bed started shaking and I could hear a rumbling that died down. Yesterday I was driving up the M2 and there were dead badgers all over the road and I mean millions of them. Something has driven them to kill themsmelves on the road instead of staying in the earth.

I watched a film last year and the birds and animals foresaw what was going to happen and started going beserk or acting queerly. I've been keeping an eye on the birds today and I think they've look agitated.

General discussion / How much alcohol do you drink?
April 14, 2010, 01:27:08 PM
I have been reading a lot lately. It says that although we think the French and those from Italy have more respect for alcohol and wine than we do, there is a high percentage of winos and hobos in those countries too. I have been thinking if what people considered to be harmful in terms of weekly quantity. I was watching a drama on Kevin Madden's heart surgery and the surgeon there was an Italian man. He works at fixing and mending hearts, valves and arteries. He says that he drinks red wine every day, and this is a man who fixes hearts.

What I am asking is this? What do you consider too much that'll do you bad? I read recently in an audio book that the liver is one hell of a tough organ in your body. There are drunk hobos on the streets who drink masive amounts every day and live 20-30 years in that constant state.

I would drink about two bottle of wine at the weekend. During the week I would open a bottle of wine on a Monday but just with my dinner. I refuse to leave an opened bottle in the fridge as it is never the same. I would finish it with my partner and maybe open another one. I try not to do that every day but only if I'm not eating dinner. At the weekends I drink a bottle of wine on a Friday and a few cans of beer and maybe a short for bedtime and do the same on a Sunday. On Saturday I do not drink wine but would drink 5-6 pints in the club. On Wednesdays I'd take two beers and maybe three glasses of wine.

I don't think that is a lot. Do people think they drink too much?

Miserable b**tards who stand in the shop and read every page of the paper and then go on and get whatever else they came in for.  I was getting diesel this morning and I watched this guy go in, stand at the back of the shop and pick up the Mirror I think.  Literally read through every page and was still looking at it by the time I had left the shop.  If I was the shop owner, I'd be telling him to either buy it or jog on...miserable t**t... >:(

No disrespect Screen Machine, but I think you have personal issues here. That man has no impact on your life or shouldn't have. I suggest you are unhappy with some aspect inside yourself and are trying to find faults in others to compensate for this. I think you should just smile and shake your head at the audacity of others to behave like that. If he was holding you up, maybe, but I suggest you look inside yourself and see who's there. I mean no disrespect.

I don't really see what is wrong with anything. If you drive about the countryside, the farmers are still farming and life is still moving on. We were lucky to have jobs in the first place and maybe unemployment figures need to be higher because we shouldn't have the amount of work we had as wages couldn't be paid by fantasy money.

People took their fantasy money and bought real things with it.

I notice that there are no religious figures. Surely with a country so enshrined in religion, we should have?

I have been an Arsenal supporter since 1999 and have been attending matches since 2002. My first game was a game at Old Trafford that won a league that year.

Vermaelen only gets the one match ban. Hopefully the players have their minds well away from the Barca clash next week. Birmingham could be a tricky venue this Saturday.

Hard to see him playing Campbell on Saturday and Wednesday. Silvestre could be wheeled out alongside Song.

Right Lads and Lassies, was at a table quiz about two weeks ago and this question came up:

From 1980 to 2000 which county won the most all ireland senior titles, hurling and football combined?

It was clarified that this could be all football, all hurling or a combination of both.
The answer they gave and stuck to was wrong  >:( Even though they couldn't back it up, yet I could clearly prove that our answer was correct! (Good thing we were 3 back from the winners and not a point, or things could have got interesting!!) Take it as being inclusive of the years mentioned.

Anyway, without using the GAA.ie roll of honour, what are your answers??

Galway.

What I mean is, is he any good or just a TV star? Are there any Irish self-helpers on the market?

It was someone who I had created over time but not recognised him. I let him control my thoughts and reactions. I knew it wasn't me at the back of my head. My eyeballs were not mine. My ears were not mine. I was behaving to suit the others in the community. I was using my eyeballs to see what the man inside me wanted me to see. My ears were hearing what the man wanted me to hear. Now, with the confidence that comes with age, the ability to be the man I want to be, I was able to chase that man from inside me and take on a new body. I can express how I am without fear of judgement or being stoned at. I put it all down to this man:

Growing up in Ireland you are prosecuted for your sexuality and desire. Now, with the Church under scrutiny and with it Ireland's personality, men and women can flourish in a world or indifference and acceptance. The future is one that my ancestors will thrive in in the future.

If anyone disagrees with that, then they are the ones who need to be psycotically assessed. The future is great and I'm part of it. If anyone is inspired by this, read the man above. Chase that person from inside you before it's too.

Yes me. The best advice i can give you is Live every day like it`s your last, some day you will be right. This is what I apply to my life.  No charge for the advice by the way. ;)

I don't think that is good advice. If I knew it was my last day I would be going around sorting out my affairs and finances and saying goodbyes to everyone. I think if I did that everyday people would be rather annoyed with me.

I would also be a bit annoyed that it was ending, every day.

I am not talking about the programmes you see on ITV or BBC but I think everyone should think about reading self help books. I spent twenty years of my life denying who I was and living the life of someone else who was inside my body. But it wasn't me. I started reading a book by a man called Gary van Warmerdam

This is him.

I know he looks a bit American with his smile and beard but he's fine.

He has taught me to not judge people before I meet them. He tells me that everything I think about isn't real. All the thoughts I have are beliefs and values with no substance. The only real thing is what actually happens in front of you . This means that I don't worry about things at all. AN example of this was when I was told my car might have been clamped and crushed when I left it in Newry overnight. Someone told me this in truth. I was able to listen to his words, realise that that man could be wrong. Also, if it was crushed what could I do about it? I would just get on with life.

There are some faults ie if you were standing talking to someone on a train line and a train was hurtling towards you at 100 mph and it was only a few metres away, it's best to 'think' and walk off the line I suppose.

But in general he has made me a very happy person and this is his website - http://www.pathwaytohappiness.com/. You can email him here - gary@pathwayto happiness.com. I have emailed him many times about wee problems around the house. He has never replied but by emailing him I found out I'd worked out the problem magically.

I was wondering if any one believes in self-help to any extent at all, or am I making my life more complicated? Can anyone recommend any? What is Dr Phil like?

General discussion / Re: Financial advice please

Just be very careful with this Hardy. I've heard many stories from a wide range of different people in Ireland who have been conned by foreign royalty. I wouldn't be surprised that they are trying to win your affection and end up living with you. Down the line their family will move over to your house and before long half of that man's villiage will be camped outside your area or in your field.

If you were I i'd ask your financial advsor. He would be able to do a credit check on this person. For all you know I might be seeing the glass as half empty so good luck and fingers cross. Some people deserve the break.
