I was reading an old thread that was started by hardstation about Amhrán na bhfiann (hopefully its spelt right, ta me ag foghlaim).

1. If what he was saying was true about our National Anthem being very poorly translated from English to Irish and at that being a shit song, should we change it?

2. How can you change it?

3. What would be the best option to replace it with?

It be better than that ridiculous Ireland's Call rubbish.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

I make a point of singing Amhrán na bhfiann as loud as i can during Irelands Call before games in landsdowne.

It beats the hell out of "God save our gracious queen, God save our glorious queen, God save our queen." At least ours doesn't sound like the record's stuck.

The Duckworth Lewis Method's alternative anthem for Ireland

That is class. ;D

An old music teacher of mine always said that 'Dochas linn Naomh Padraig' should have been the national anthem.

As Jim Royle would say...Ireland's Call, my arse.

If one was needed, a worthy replacement would be 'A Nation Once Again'
