And for the record my kids can go to whatever Uni they want. I certainly wouldn't pick a protestant one for them  - Ave Maria in FL or Steubenville Ohio would be my hopes. But that's another thread.....

Somewhat ironic that the only thing stopping Tom Evans going to prison for murder as a juvenile was...Alder Hey hospital.

In a live video posted on Facebook he said Alfie's life had been "sustained" for a third time.

"The warrior strikes again. He's back. He's just had a little dip, he went pale, lips started going a little bit but he's back. Just wanted everyone to know Alfie's stabilised," said Mr Evans.


Ms James is now represented by Jason Coppel QC, a different barrister from Alfie's father, and the appeal judges heard from her that the toddler was "struggling".

Mr Coppel said he had just spoken to Ms James by telephone and said: "The purpose of the phone call was to say that Alfie was struggling and needed immediate intervention to ensure that he survives at least for the purposes of today and she asked me if I would pass that on to the court "

The poor father is demented and has been given incorrect legal advice from the very outset and the judges have actually raised this as a very significant problem. The fathers vulnerability is being used by elements of Christian fundamental groups and advocates as a tool to force their own agenda. It is very interesting that the mother now has separate counsel and that would suggest to me that she does not agree fully with what is going on. Terribly terribly sad.

Alfie Evans and his wee lad wouldn't have gotten through the door of a hospital over there unless he'd insurance in place...

Fact

Incorrect. He would have gotten through the door and treated in many states. Getting to stay would be a different matter altogether. There is free healthcare under CHIP in many states - I think 9million kids are currently covered under it. It isn't ideal for people on unemployment but its coverage and they get immediate attention rather than ahving to wait 6 months to see a specialist.

The whole thing is a mess. I couldn't care less about the dad's ramblings or if him and the mother aren't getting on. If that wee boy has a chance then let him fight

I think the key point is though he doesn't have a chance. The hospital in italy cannot cure him from
What I have read and can simply just provide palliative care. The boy is in a semi vegatative state. He will die. He has significant complications. The courts have read all this and ruled accordingly. The 'christian' thing to do is let him die with dignity. The court made a very valid point, this is what is in the best interests of the child not the parents. The counsel for the father made it out that the child's best interests were not paramount but the parents were. Provide the poor lad with the care that he can have and let him see his time out in comfort

Please stop taking this nonsense. All the medical staff involved, including the ones at the hospitals in Italy and Germany are unanimous in their assessment of him. There is no chance, much less a fighting chance. His brain has been destroyed.

You are precisely the sort of religiously zealous parasite that has hijacked this case through spreading falsehoods and misinformation, hand in hand with either an inability or a refusal to educate yourself on the simple details of the matter.
