GAA Discussion / St.Lawrences of Manchester
January 20, 2016, 08:26:39 PM
Sorry for putting this on this on thread, but i'm here long enough to get away with it.  :P

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

St.Lawrences of Manchester are actively recruiting for new members for the season ahead. The club was founded by a Derry man in 1980 and has gone from strength to strength.

We are truly a family and community based club as we can field football teams at all levels. We boast two men's teams and a ladies team and we are thriving at underage. In addition to the commitment on the field from all teams, we as a club, have close links to the Irish in Manchester, especially Chorlton. It is here where the promotion of our culture outside of the GAA separates us from other clubs. Many of our members are champion Irish Dancers and others play in well-known  Irish folk bands. We also have strong links with neighbouring schools and universities and a local Aussie Rules Club.

St.Lawrences are promoting our Irishness in Manchester, get involved.

All teams have begun training for the season ahead, so if you would like to get involved, please ring Jimmy Wray on 07709434978

General discussion / The situation at Calais
August 06, 2015, 10:34:32 AM
I am surprised no one has started a thread on this.

The silence has been deafening in the media about the present situation involving the people here. I feel very sorry for the people who have been forced to flee their homes for a better place. The international law have failed these people and so they have disowned them. These people are living people with kids and families; they are not pieces of meet that the governments and media tell you.

I was in Denmark and Germany there for two weeks and I came back through the Euro tunnel in the passenger section. The train started on time but after about 1 minute it stopped. The train steward came to each van/car and these were the words he used................... " Sorry about this, but we have to reverse back as one of them jumped on the train in front; what they need is 25,000 volts." I felt totally took aback about this.

Well have you ever mouthed at the opposition?

I honestly said I haven't.

We had to sub a goalkeeper ( my cousin) for being too tired 20 odd minutes into an university game.

We were getting hammered by Coleraine and he had to run after the ball so many times, from Coleraine shots; that he was naggered.

General discussion / The Church and the British Army
March 13, 2015, 06:03:35 PM
Just inquire what people think about the Church and their support of the British invasions; ie in Afghanistan. They speak from the pulpit in praise of the soldiers. I think religion and politics should never mix.

This has been brought to a head by today in London.

GAA Discussion / Am I a GAA bigot?
January 27, 2015, 11:20:43 PM
It gets up my tits that people who say they are big GAA followers would rather tune into a soccer game than watch a gaa match. They then go onto chat a way more about soccer. Like missing club things to go and watch a soccer game; be it training / fundraiser. Like come NFL now this Weekend have a gluttony of games on  TV and games to go to . However these peoe will not chat about the upcoming league and the big ties or read about them in the paper. Instead they will chat shite about the big premier league games. The same boys won't lift a paper to look at the match reports or query a university team to find out how many boys from their county compete for a respective uni.

Am I GAA bigot?
