Both barrels ,under and over,
Vin for TT
Vin stage 17 and game over for poor Pog,
The Dane has been waiting for 16,&17 ,IMO.
Pog had two weeks ta dig him a grave and rather than 5minutes+ up he's 10 seconds down.Hope he keeps it close though. Vin looked too silken, too slick("as much as a farmer can!")and wasn't even trying last day.

Would prefer if they were scrapped - not because of the mis-matches in the S8, or even because of the dead rubbers, but the whole Championship needs to run as if it were one competition, not something that was put together.

The addition of the S8 has put the entire thing out of whack.
When the qualifiers were introduced in 2001, Galway played 8 games, losing their second game to Roscommon.
No of days between games were 14, 27, 7, 15, 13, 22 & 28

This year, to compare like with like, compare Mayo's fixtures to Galway 2001. Mayo lost their second game to Roscommon
No of days between games were 20, 27, 7, 7, 8, 7, 13, 7 & 22

Mayo's first game is 15 days earlier and the final is 6 days earlier so there are an additional 2 games a timeframe of 1 week less.

The addition of the S8 and reduced turnarounds at the business end of the season has made it much more difficult to win from the qualifier route than when the qualifiers were originally drawn up. Of course, this makes the lopsided provinces more important.
The only logical way to deal with it would be to remove the provincial championships from the all-ireland series entirely - I would be in favour of scrapping them but not sure that would get enough support.

I think our own 'Queen of Carnacon' Cora Staunton fired something like 9-12 in a game a few years back and a 4-12/13 that ended in a draw!

A backdoor nothing game set by the boards favourite blatherer(Din himself)and just shy of the quota 1st count(100 at T.I).Nearly sure that was more than last years AI final or year befores!
Ominous I thought. It meant media maelstrom and with us involved, never a good ending for us.Disapointed with us not backing up the lillies once the game was TV guarenteed, money's I suppose?
Cribben and Co roped and branded the Men of the Heather all day, shades of Rainbow,Buckley and the Short Grass a '98'.Hope this the efforts of great minors and u21s of last 8/9 years coming through for ye.Anyway as the 'Boss said to Sully'  with last words in the Road to Perdition, "I'm glad it was you Micheal".Most of mine are of same towards Cill Dara and tip our hat so accordingly.Glad it was.(except Dinny,7daysof stale croissants for him ;) abandoning ship and Mayo comp)  ;D. Besides us Westies have still got the Connies and Donnies.

Props to of all things Sky :o (gasp)a live game from Newbridge when those fkn alps national broadcasters not once in their lazy arsed freeloading history!

Ah no, poor Jim Bowen. The finest host of any game show there ever was. Absolutely loved watching him on Bullseye. Funny man.

And what about him on Peter Kays Amarillo video. I think he must've been pissed that day.

RIP Jim.

Great memories.

Just count the number gone from this video:

Anne Kirkbride (21 June 1954 – 19 January 2015) Deirdre - Coronation Street
Rod Hull (13 August 1935 – 17 March 1999)
Keith Harris (21 September 1947 – 28 April 2015)
Jimmy Saville (31 October 1926 - 29 October 2011)
Bolton Wanderers FC
Jim Bowen (20 August 1937 - 14 March 2018)
Ronnie Corbett (4 December 1930 – 31 March 2016)
Mr Blobby

Sooty & Sweep

Pedant alert - That's actually Bernie Clifton with the ostrich.  According to Wiki he's still alive.  Bernie that is, I don't think the ostrich was real :-\

Particularly since the video was taken in 2005. If Rod hull died in 1999, he'd have done well to make that.
Brilliant :D
I nearly fell off the roof laughing.

I had a very interesting chat about this on Friday night with Tommy Conroy and he was asking me why Harte is playing this way and he reckons it's as simple as he just doesn't have the players that he had back in the 00s.

"Ye have to cut your coat to suit your cloth" he said and that for years Dublin didn't have any forwards and they could win nothing and now the last 5 years the had loads but he reckons it's all cyclical and that if you look at the U21s and younger there are not a lot of talent coming through again.
I asked him then did he reckon Harte learnt from Jim McGuinness that you can build a strong system around a hard working team and athletes if you don't have the skillful players like Canavan, Mugsy, McGuigan and O'Neill to make that difference. He said yes and he's kept us at the top 4 or 5 teams in Ireland for the last 12 years more or less.

I questioned him though on does playing such a style not stymie the progress of forwards and encourage them to ALWAYS play the percentage game and lose that edge of a great instinctive attacker who will take a risk and try something flash like some of Stevie O'Neills points in those league games from outrageous angles. If you did that now you'd be hauled off for not playing as a team and possession is king.
How many times did we see our corner forwards get inside their man and beat him and then be too scared to shoot in case they'd miss so they turn back and RE-FUC*IN cycle back to the 40. It drives be crazy I said to him.

I think MH and Martin O Neill take similar approaches.  Very technical.  Very safe. Works against weaker teams. They don't seem to trust the players. But once the opposition figure it out it doesn't work. They don't have the star players who can determine matche's.  Or not enough of them

  .....similar approaches,scruffy little Ulstermen!

McGuinness should be every bit as lauded for his role in taking the war to the Brits in a time it needed to happen as much as his role in bringing the conflict to an end and making the peace process work.

A courageous and selfless man.

The point of the sword in battle when battle was needed
And a peace that never looked possible to anyone ever.
Great son of Derry and a fine son of of his country when no one showed.
RIP .

I don't know what happened to the other discussion.  Maybe it was hijacked by the flourbags who were so pessimistic at the start.  Now the team has 8 points.

3 big matches . Can Meath continue their winning run ? Can Fermanagh pick up a win? Will Galway lose it again ?

1400 Cork v Meath, Páirc Uí Rinn
1400 Fermanagh v Clare, Brewster Park
1400 Galway v Derry, Tuam Stadium
So if Galway or Clare lose the lillies are up,would that be right?

Cavan lad told me they haven't won a D1 game since 04,don't know if it's true but...
There's no better time to play Mayo. Its Machale park.Get Yere face into Mayo from the start, works for Tyrone Monaghan Dublin yearly.Id say our Croke record is better than "Home",Breffni win today keeps  us in the mess, and for 3yrs others results than our own endeavour have seen to our survival.

Wind wasn't that big. Cavan changed tactics totally in second half, stopped contesting kickouts and pulled everyone back. Made no sense. Don't know why Niall Murray was took of at half time. Clerkin and Corr passengers.
Bizarre sounding tactics alright.
